The Batlog! When I was younger I was not interested in super heroes, all I wanted to watch was princesses. So until this class I haven’t had much knowledge of Batman, besides the previews I saw on TV or heard when my parents watched the movies. I always thought all super heroes were good and they were helping keep the citizens safe. After learning more about Batman and hearing he is actually a vigilante I was very shocked. All I knew before taking this class was that Batman was a superhero that wore a black costume with batwings and he protected Gotham city. Also, I knew that his parents had died and that was why he became this hero to protect the citizens. I thought everything he did was good and he was always seen as a helper for the city of Gotham. After reading the beginning of The Dark Knight Returns, I am a little confused of who Batman really is, I had never known that Batman disappeared from his work and took a break for 10 years of being Batman. In the episode we watched in class, Batman was depicted as a model citizen who respected the police officers and the law, this is what I expected of Batman. He wouldn’t let Robin into the club because he was under aged, and after he was drugged he agreed that he was in no state to drive. Batman respected those around him and was polite and approachable. But Miller has made Batman seem like a scared person hiding from helping others. When Batman was approached by the two men early in the book he was a coward and just slumped to the ground in the alley and waited till they went away. Batman continued to hide during the beginning of The Dark Knight Returns, Miller used the news anchors to continuously ask where Batman was and to split up the comic topics.
