Recommended: Reflection on gender bias

If you are a women in the workforce, I’m sorry to say that nationwide you are being paid 76-79 cents to a dollar than your male counterparts. Men and women are equal, yet women are being paid less because some think that women won’t do the job just as well as men do. But if women do the hard work and the effort the job needs, there is no reason that they should be paid less than men.
One of the problems is that a woman's age and race depends on how much the women gets paid.The gender wage gap most severely affects women of color, and the wage gap exists within all racial and ethnic groups. For instance, Asian American women earn 90 percent, African Americans earn 63 percent, Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander earn 62 percent, American …show more content…

Now this is a problem that with no question should be fixed. For example, if a women is dentist, her male coworker is going to get paid 20 percent more than her for doing to same exact job. If women do the exact same amount of labor as men, then they deserve to get paid as much as they do. Our Constitution states that all people are equal, and if women are not getting paid equally then our nation is not treating them right. If current trends continue, women won't earn equal pay until 2059, according to the Institute for Women's Policy Research. That is 42 years until equal pay for women, which is only an estimate! Who knows, equal pay might take 60 years! But wait there’s even more outrageous news! Natalie Portman's recent announcement that Ashton Kutcher was paid three times as much as she was for co-starring in 2011's "No Strings Attached." This is horrific news by itself, since Portman and Kutcher were co-stars and were working for the same employer, but she also said,"Women make 80 cents to the dollar. In Hollywood, we are making 30 cents to the dollar." So imagine this, you are getting paid less than half of a dollar, yet you know that your coworker is getting paid more that half of what you are getting paid. This happens to more people than you think and it needs to end
