During the past years, there has always been a debate between the people who follow religion and the people who deny the existence of God. Specifically, people who argue that religion is the right path to follow and believe in only one God call themselves monotheists; for example, the people who follow Judaism, Christianity, or Islam. On the other hand, atheism is defined as “an attitude of skepticism towards claims of the existence of any sort of God or gods” (Cooke 1). In other words, people who relied so much on science and were looking for a proof for everything, including the existing of God call themselves atheists. People throughout history used to have a lot of different opinions about religion and its values and beliefs. However, it’s very important to point out that now religion became very important to people all over the world to the point that it has made a very big impact on the decisions that people make every day. Therefore, some people have gone as far as giving up their lives for their religion. And others decided to form their countries and set its laws based on religion. As a consequence, countries started going into wars, fighting over land and resources, but at the same time misleading their people and forcing them to fight wars claiming that it’s because of the religious differences. These wars resulted in the creation of many new religions and the destruction of many. They call themselves free-thinkers far away from any religion and its ideas. They deny God’s existence based on an examination of evidence that science provides. They argue that religion doesn’t make this world peaceful at all instead; it brings war and death to people all over the world. However, The Encyclopedia of Wars made a study and published it in 2008 that contains a study of 1,763 wars throughout human history and they only named 123 of them happening because of religion which is a little bit under 7% (Ridley 1). In addition, Ridley also mentioned in her article another report from The Institute for Economics and Peace that said “Countries with the highest level of atheism-mainly communist or former communist states like Russia and the Czech Republic- were not necessarily the most peaceful. North Korea, which has one of the lowest rates of people practicing religion, was one of the ten ‘least peaceful’ countries in the world last year” (Ridley 1). Atheist people also argue that there is no such thing as miracles. They need to see and whiteness one by themselves. Furthermore, doubting everything they need science to prove how the miracle happened and why in order to believe in them.
