Argicultures Harmful and Beneficial Effects on the Environment

Agriculture is the field whereby people cultivate and produce crops. When people talk about topics related to agriculture, it always leads to environment. There is close relationship between agriculture and environment. Both of them can benefit or harm to each other. Both affect each other in many ways. For example, continues use of fertilizers currently causes of greenhouse emissions. This environmental problem can affect the agricultural field, because high concentration of carbon dioxide cause the leaf pore shrink and diminishing tree cooling power, this will resulting in decreasing crop production and at the same time global warming phenomenon.

Besides, agriculture also has both harmful and beneficial effects on the environment by changing the quality and quantity of soil, water, air, biodiversity and landscapes. Farming is currently a main source of water pollution. Pesticides run-off from agriculture land also lowering drinking water quality and harm water-based wildlife. Environment mostly affected by agriculture because it is the only place for agriculture activity. However, environment also get benefit from agriculture activity which is prevention of global warming because agriculture activity such as planting keep environment cool because it has power to cool environment by process called transpirations.

Nowadays, world population growth increase rapidly and about to reach the highest capacity, this will cause increasing in demand for production of food. Since food production main sources comes from agriculture, this leads to agriculture developing faster and better to compensate for increasing demand of a blooming population. Government and NGOs should take any actions or precautions in order to control the realizing of this hazardous gases. Excessive use of fertilizers in agriculture results on water pollution. Farmers are suggested to follow the guideline on how to fertilize their crops and in the same time minimizing the destruction of our ecosystem. Cultivation on land is necessary as the number of population rises. In order to maintain our environment, carefully plan on how the cultivation activity should be carried out before execution. People have to realize the important of agriculture and their connection between environment. The government together with citizens should plan a proactive way to make advantages of the agriculture so that it gives benefit to both the society and the Mother Nature.
