The Greek God Hercules is a legendary hero whose story has been retold in many ways, and each time his Greek archetype is modified or changed completely. Hercules the Myth is an innocent archetype seeking loyalty from the gods and village people, while in the movie Hercules starts out as an orphan and seeks a place where he belongs. Though there are many different depictions of Hercules he will still be a hero. In Hercules the Myth, his quest is to remain safe while he’s trying to redeem himself by completing twelve dangerous labors. His fear is not being able to return home being abandoned by the people, because they think he’s insane. This fear was illustrated during Hercules and the Pythian Priestess conversation,” And after I do these labors will i be able to return to Thebes?” (page 2). Eurystheus is constantly trying to kill hercules by sending him on his ten labors, thus conflicting with hercules’s task of staying safe. His task in the Myth, in order to find peace and serenity within himself, is to regain the loyalty of the people. Since the people think Hercules went insane they no longer believe in him and for Hercules to feel about himself he needs others to believe in him again. His virtue was being acknowledged and respected by the Gods and trusted by people. The Gods acknowledged Hercules by giving him his own place on Mt.
