Through the survey, it was said that great leaders view the challenges as the opportunity to test their decision making. Young leaders take the challenges as the barriers because of their lack of experience or grit, but there is some take this as a challenge of opportunity. The eight truth of leadership is about You either Lead by Example or You Don’t Lead at all. The authors cited that leadership is about playing that instrument called “you.” If there is a change in the system, policies, or even taking in the organization it must start first with the leaders in able subordinates believes on the reform. Sometimes admitting a mistake by leader makes a subordinate gain credibility and trust. If the leader wants his or her personnel to change it must be started first in his or her own actuation. The author cited the experience of one of the great leader who admits his own mistake by posting it to their bulletin board where the personnel sees it. The leader gains credibility to his subordinate and resulted in an increase of their products due to the improvement of work ethics of the personnel. Leading by example is especially important when admitting mistakes. If the leader does not admit mistakes, followers will be afraid to admit their own mistakes, which can harm the organization. A leader must possess this type of thinking of continuing learning not just thinking in the box but instead think outside the box. The leader is not inherent it was learned or skills that need practice or learned through continuous studies and experience. A leader must have a passion for learning in order to learn effectively, the needs to be open to new experiences and getting feedback from those around him or her. Without feedback, there is no room for improvement. A leader must focus on a room of improvement; he or she must evaluate the outcomes, if it is contributed or not. There are five elements of deliberate practice for consistent improvement: it is designed specifically to improve performance, it has to be repeated a lot, feedback on results must be continuously available, it is highly demanding mentally, and it is not that much fun.
