In history, there have been occurring events that have fundamentally changed our society in more ways than just one. An event that had a drastic affect on the American society today is the American Revolution. The American Revolution helped our American society with the political views, social changes on the people, and the economic effects that have taken place during this time. Political views and the rights of the citizens took a toll during this time. Women 's rights and slavery were also tested as well. The revolution helped us overlook our economy and the views over the poor farmers that were almost out ruled due to high taxes. The revolution opened eyes to many that women were so much more than what they were given credit for. During the revolution, the job of a women was very much needed. While men were out in battle, women were required to take care of the house, the farm, and the children. This lead them to be more independent, educated, and involved with others in the community. In Abigail’s letters to Thomas Jefferson, she states that at one point, Women had the right to vote in New Jersey at one time. The Woodcut of a Patriot women, Marblehead, MA, is 1779 also shows that women were treated as equal at one time. Agriculture was an important production during the American Revolution. This is proven by the Medal of the Philadelphia Society for the Promotion of Agriculture in 1786. At that time, Agriculture was not as strong as it is today. Many farmers back then were very poor, were in debt, and were taxed very high. Resulting in this caused our society to always have a strong government. The American Revolution helped us shape our nation today by making a big impact on politically views, social changes, and economic viewpoints. This made our outline on the political standpoint by showing us that everyone has a chance to vote and say what they believe. The social changes that we discovered from this time period were that everyone was equal and deserve to have equal rights for both men and women. Economically, the revolution made us realize that we would have zero to scarce food if we didn’t have the farmers. This made us grateful have our farmers around. It can be proven that we have learned from the American Revolution by the documentation and the primary sources that we are given from people of that time
