Alzheimer’s Disease Have you ever forgotten about your mom’s birthday and not make her a card. I know I do a lot. Did you also know that this a disease. This disease isn’t like you forgot a birthday, but something more serious like forgetting how to tie a shoe or how to put your shirt on! This disease is called Alzheimer's or some people say (all-timers).

What is Alzheimer’s Disease? Alzheimer’s disease is a disease having to do with the brain. The brain sends signals to the body. The neurotransmitters send the signals. If you have Alzheimer’s disease you don’t have as many neurotransmitters as the average person. Alzheimer’s doesn’t just forget basic stuff, but also forgets his/her children or parents. This disease has many different names for example there is alzheimer dementia, alzheimer syndrome, and DAT (Direct antiglobulin test). In 1906 there was a man named Alois Alzheimer he was german. He had a 51 year old woman who had a severe case of forgetting important things. He figured out what it was through autopsy and other medical treatments. To find the problem they can do MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) or they can do a CT scan (Computer Tomography). Some treatments used are Donepezil, Rivastigmine, and they sometimes put them in therapy. Donepezil is used to treat all stages of Alzheimer’s. It prevents the breakdown of neurotransmitters. Rivastigmine is used for moderate Alzheimer’s. This medication is used to slow down the symptoms from becoming worse. The therapy is used for they're mood swings. Therapy can help show the stage he/she is in and also help them with their feelings and emotion. Show how to express them in a non-hostile manner.

How Lives Change By Alzheimer’s and How They Cope with It? Alzheimer’s is hard to cope with because you forget everything. The most important thing is they rely on they're families to remember. Everyday they take medication then go to a therapist and it’s hard to remember what time there is. It’s hard to talk and communicate with people. Some people to help them understand is talk to them clearly. I remember when my babysitter was talking to her mom who had alzheimer's disease and they would have to yell to make her understand. The children and adults have to be patient with they're family member. If you be patient they will eventually answer you. Also when the family member gets upset just change the conversation or distract them from what’s going
