The prevalence of alcoholism in the workplace is far more common than most realise (Ames, Grube, & Moore, 1996:37). It is a problem that could deem to be extremely dangerous especially at companies such as rheinmetall denel munition where employees work with and construct weapons and ammunition. According to Schedule 8 of the Labour Relations Act (42 of 1996) companies are allowed to dismiss employees for a first offence if the misconduct is severe. A policy that most companies who require high risk labour would be eager to embrace and understandable so. The clinical sociologist will work with Mr. John Moore, the manager of the investment recruitment department. The sociologist will receive a budget to work with but any findings, possible intervention strategies and prevention programmes should first be discussed with board before any implementations. The board will have a meeting with the sociologist once a week to discuss the progress of the project. Considering that alcoholism could have considerable consequences on the individual and that rehabilitation could be a slow process the project timing will be 6 months (Austin et al., 2014:398).
