Americans today tend to believe that most African Americans are gang members, rapists, killers, and people who suck off the system, when really they are just prisoners of the white race. African Americans and Latinos are falsely accused and taken from their families to partake in mass imprisonment and free labor. Racism isn’t just words and actions to discriminate a human being; it is the power of one individual to think they are superior to an opposite race. They say if you treat a criminal like a criminal they will never get the chance to change. To put it another way, if we keep prisoners in a little box with no social attention they will never learn how to change. They say we haven’t excluded slavery in the United States. Many people who grew up in the late 1930s and early 1940s have African Americans painted in their heads as criminals. Whereas today’s generation is constantly seeing successful African Americans. We have grown up with Blacks in our schools and don’t think anything of it. Even today we are fighting a war on racism and cop violence. These wars didn’t just rise up out of the blue; we have been fighting them since the first African American was taken from the shores of Africa. “But if you dismiss black complaints of mistreatment of police as being completely rooted in our modern context, then you’re missing the point completely. There has never been a period in our history where the law and order branch of state has not operated against the freedoms, the liberties, the options, the choices that have been available to the black community, generally speaking. And to ignore that racial heritage, means that you can’t have an informed debate about the current state of blacks and police relationship today, ‘cause this didn’t just appear out of nothing. This is the product of a centuries-long historical process. And to not reckon with that is to shut off solutions,” said by Kevin Gannon. We see innocent Black and Latino people being killed by white men and women in power. They are not always innocent, however, we never see the police force’s video of the incident.
