Recommended: Poverty in africa introduction

Heres, a question what do you first think about when I ask you about Africa most people think of starving children walking barefooted while naked or a group of people in a village walking around with spears. Here's an idea if what I told you that's all wrong, in fact, people in Africa live in apartments and cities like we do here in America.
People started thinking this way about Africa because of the way that we were brought up we were taught in the past that Africans were uncivilized and barbaric. Thank goodness we don't think that way now, but we nevertheless consider the idea in our head that people are starving, homeless and naked but that is all just wrong and the commercials that assure you that people in Africa need donations of clothing
