Human behavior is caused by the various needs. What drives us humans to pursue these needs and goal is a terminology called Motivation. But how do we define our needs? Eventually, a scientist named Abraham Maslow developed his model on 5 levels of biological needs, as motivators called Hierarchy of need; which is defined as self-actualization, esteem needs, belongingness, safety needs, and physiological needs. In this case, if I was a manger applying this terminology to motivate my employees would help bring out their best overall performance. The first need that I find most important is self-actualization. Which defined by Maslow is full use and exploitation of talents, capacities and potentialities. How I would apply this toward my employees is by two ways: providing challenges end encouraging creativity. By providing challenges for my employees they have the potential to do more than they know and it is not until they enter the working world that many slowly begin to discover that. Two ways I would help my employees is allow participation and creating team spirit. By creating team spirit I help my employees have a great work environment. Promoting a positive atmosphere helps to accomplish that goal, as well as ensuring that everyone understands where the company is going and that I’m not creating any hidden agendas. If I’ve done the job properly, my employees are going to enjoy work, but also feel continually challenged to achieve excellence. The second way I would boost my employee’s self-esteem is by allowing participation. What I mean by this is allowing employees who enjoy their jobs more as they feel part of the process. It can lead to longer employment periods with the same employees. By allowing participation it motivates them to feel like they belong instead of just being a simple
