Dil Bahadura Dura Laura Orr English 1010 Abortion Should be Legal The debate of weather abortion should be made legal dates back to Jan. 22, 1973. When US Supreme Court defined abortion as one the fundamental rights of a women. Abortion has existed in different societies, although the government and the religion have opposed it. As abortion is one of the most discussed topic of the day, one can easily support its advantage and disadvantage with strong points. Though some people may argue that it cannot be morally justified, I strongly believe that abortions should be legalized as it makes women enjoy a better life through freedom and better health. Those children are treated badly, are never loved. The children doesn't get the proper care he needs and ends up being the victim of social depression or social anxiety. He is never exposed to better opportunities and always have to live a measurable life. This is one of the example that is most apparent in my own family. One of my cousin named Suraj is treated differently than other children in my Uncles family. When I showed the concern with my mom few years ago, I was shocked to hear that my Aunt was wishing to abort him before his birth. Yes, I am glad that I have a cousin, but seeing discrimination in his family makes me line up in favor of abortion. They often make argument that abortion is murder of a helpless child who has yet to be born. Given the fact that US government considers unborn babies as human beings, their argument seems reasonable. Their argument makes more sense as killing of an innocent human being is not neither morally nor legally correct .The federal Unborn Victims of Violence Act, that protects unborn children from assault and murder states that under federal law, anybody intentionally killing or attempting to kill an unborn child should be punished for intentionally killing or attempting to kill a human being. The act also states that an unborn child is a member of the species homo sapiens. Also, people's argument that human technology should not challenge the nature and god makes some sense when we start the debate keeping bible or other religious books as the base. However the data obtained form abortion.porcon.org makes clear that even the religious people seem to be in the favor of abortion. The site states that Although the Catholic and Lutheran churches oppose abortion, more of their members believe abortion should be legal in all or most cases versus illegal in all or most cases (51% vs. 45%, Lutheran; 48% vs. 45%, Catholic). Hence, though people argue against abortion on the basis of the points described in earlier paragraphs abortion should be made
