Hacksaw Ridge a remarkable story of young Desmond Doss who decides to go into the Military to be a med-aid, to serve his country by helping the wounded soldiers. Desmond has a solid religious background; he strongly believes God will protect him and give him the resources he needs to serve in the Military without using any weaponry. Doss was one of the first Americans to receive the Medal of Honor for saving many lives during Battle of Okinawa.
The movie was very inspirational, not because it was about war but because of the story behind a young man’s faith. After seeing this movie, I had many emotions. I was truly inspired by this story, a man who didn’t fire a single weapon made it through the war, what are the chances. But I too, do have a strong religious background. Because I know I have gone through things and have prayed about my situations and knew God would get me through them, He can surely protect a man who is obeying his word. The scene that I thought Desmond was going to give up was when he was woken up by men beating him in his sleep, in that same clip he showed determination, even after an officer was worried for his safety by how far Doss had taken his religious beliefs. The real footage of the real Desmond Doss left me in tears as he spoke of his life and the battle of WWII. Despite the fact that Doss be mocked and shamed by his faith, Doss showed his bravery and compassion through his hope he saved his fellow brothers, while other men took lives. The movie made me feel so proud to put my faith in God because I know he is faithful and will be there protecting me just as He did Desmond Doss. The director did a great job with this film, Mel Gibson knows how to make an Oscar-winning movie. In its best moments, the movie is a strong, anti-war documentary. It has truly moving moments of bereaved loved ones, mangled bodies in the streets, incredulous soldiers in Iraq, angry Iraqis and innocent teenagers being manipulated into enlisting. In this way, the movie presents a version of the war on Iraq that isn't shown much in the media. It improves our understanding of the war by giving it a human face.

For Conclusion, director Spielberg and writer Zusak both achieve goals of appealing to the readers pathos and logos. Director Spielberg focusing on guilt that occurs during war, and writer Zusak focusing on how courage and cawardice can be a disadvsntage or advantage based on the situatuion. In John Marsden’s Tomorrow When the War Began, the quote from David Seabury “Courage and convictions are powerful weapons against an enemy that depends upon only fists and guns”, is evident throughout the novel with the character’s various successes. Conviction (willpower) is very strong in the main characters, as the stakes are high with their entire town invaded leaving very few free. This conviction is also essential for courage, which as Ellie explains in the book, can only be found amidst fear. “I guess true courage is when you're really scared but you still do it” p.25. There are various frightening moments in this book, like when the ride on mower was used like a bomb or having to rescue Lee using heavy machinery. These are all moments the characters used their will to survive to propel them to do something that they were terrified to do. The characters also face daunting themes head on despite the previous stress. This is courage, found within conviction, and it has proved to be a good weapon against those with physical weapons.

There is a scene in this movie where the coach takes the team on a long run in the middle of the night. They end up at the break of dawn at a cemetery. The coach tells the young men of the battle that was fought on that ground. He told of the blood shed on those grounds that turned the whole area red. This can help many people that want to make a difference in this world.

Mattie shows us a great example of being very independent at the age of fourteen, but after her journey does she truly change as a person?

In closing I feel that the book did a much better job than the film of illustrating the life of Wolff. The book made Toby’s relationship with his mother and the men that were in their life much more dramatic.
Antwone Fisher in my opinion is probably the most impactful movie I have ever seen. People may say, “ What a good movie” but I say “what a good man”.
This movie was inspiring and encouraging to anyone who is struggling with something. Overcoming his controversies in life became the main point of the movie. Knowing that this movie was based upon a true story inspires the people even more.
As Oskar Schindler, Liam Neeson does an outstanding job of portraying a savy buisness man and a caring human being. Ben Kingsley plays his part with heart and cleverness. Ralph Fiennes is so completely believable as Amon Goeth. I would have never wanted to cross the path of that man. The people who played the jews were so convincing in their parts. This film truly has the feel of a documentary.
Mel Gibson has absolutely made a name for himself both as actor and a director. He is able to tell a story from a point a view that many people try to shy away from. In my perspective, Mel Gibson is a outstanding film director. His ability for mixing the right comment in films does made a backlash at times as seen with the Passion of the Christ. The movie Courageous discusses important issues we face in society today. This movie shows the importance of family, the danger of drugs, and the major importance of Christian values. Courageous causes me to consider how I treat others around me and how I can become a better Christian. I learned that living a life looking out only for myself and pursuing worldly pleasures not only consists of superficial and temporary happiness, but also consists of pain, suffering, emptiness and a longing for something more than what we have.
