Scrooge approached the door, but didn't have a speck of knowledge of what's going to happen next. When Scrooge is about to open the door, his old friend, Marley, and worker appeared on the door knocker in surprise. Scrooge walked in his dark house with a little fear, still think it is just, humbug. His mind resolute to playing tricks, he thought. Christmas eve, A night to fear, yet to thank. This turning point is different than the rest because it is shown to scrooge that the cratchit also has a family and everybody else does too. They care for their family but they need help. On Christmas Eve , Scrooge is gone by a progression of ghosts,starting with his old business accomplice, Jacob Marley. The three spirits follow,the Ghosts of Past , Christmas present and Christmas future ,show how his ,mean conduct has influenced everyone around him. Toward the finish of the story ,he is soothed to find that there is still time for him to change and we see him changed into a liberal and kind hearted person.
The Ghost takes him to the Cratchit's house first. At the house, Scrooge sees a lot. He sees that Tiny Tim is hurt and he wants to know why. The Ghost tells him that Tiny Tim has a disease and that he doesn't have enough to eat so it just gets worst and worst. Scrooge is curious about why Tiny Tim doesn't eat that much. The Ghost of Christmas Present tells Scrooge that because you only give Bob Cratchit 15 shillings he can only provide so much for his family. Scrooge started feeling so guilty because he knows he has the power to give more money to the Cratchits. Mr. Cratchit gives a toast about Scrooge and Mrs. Cratchit got upset because Scrooge has done nothing to help this family. Bob Cratchit defends Scrooge and says that he still believes in Scrooge. Scrooge feels guilty because after all that could and has happened Bob Cratchit still believes in him. The Ghost then takes Scrooge to see his nephew Fred. Everyone in the room with him is saying mean and cruel things about Scrooge and Fred defends him. He stands up for him and shows that he still believes in him. Scrooge feels really guilty because both of these people still believe in him and all he does is treat them

He buys a turkey bigger than Bob Cratchit's son and sends it to him, and instead of being rude to the Poulterer, he pays for a cab to get them to Cratchit's home. He then goes out with joy in his heart and bumps into a man who asked him to donate money to the poor the day before. As opposed to being unkind and cruel, the new and improved Scrooge donates a large sum of money to the cause happily. This kind, happy, and generous man is a complete change from the stingy and unkind Scrooge from Christmas Eve. If someone this awful can change, anyone and everyone can do the same. They just need a little push in the right direction.
By exposing Scrooge to scenes where he sees Belle and another scene where he sees his own grave, Scrooge experiences both love and grief. ‘Spirit!’ yelled Scrooge ‘this is a fearful place. In leaving it, I shall not leave its lesson, trust me. Let us go’ Scrooge just witnessed a dead left in a dark room with absolutely no connection with anybody. the fear Scrooge had to experience in order to choose alternative routes. ‘Spirit’ said Scrooge ‘I will honor Christmas in my heart… I will live in the past, the present and the future. Cratchit, is a purposeful depiction of our senses, of loss, sympathy, and of fondness. Tiny Tim has a fatal disease, which will eventually kill him. Scrooge realizes that the loss of Tim will impact more than just the Cratchits. Our senses of loss, and memories of past loss, will surely be triggered when we read about what happens to Tiny Tim. You can realize in this story that the Cratchit’s are poor, meaning they don’t have a lot of money to help Tiny Tim get the treatment he really needs. The Cratchit’s cannot even afford a turkey for Christmas. Tiny Tim just has to enjoy his probably last Christmas, it doesn’t really matter if they are poor. He reminds us of how close we feel or how distant we feel to our family. He is a poor boy, but still is happy everyday, just to be with his family at christmastime. Tiny Tim wishes that everyone is blessed for the holidays, even though he is not as fortunate. Tim Cratchit shows us how loss, sympathy, and fondness can be triggered in a story.
This ghost is described to be a jolly giant with dark brown curly hair who wears a fur-lined, green robe and holly wreath with shining icicles on his head. All of these qualities represent what a life lived with family and friends looks like. Scrooge does not know what this life is like because he has chosen material wealth as a false sense of happiness. As a result, his life is now dark and gloomy because he is alone. In a vision that the ghost shows Scrooge he sees Bob Cratchit, who lives on a meager salary working for Scrooge, but is still happy because he is surrounded by family. The ghost is trying to show Scrooge that money is not the path to happiness. Scrooge never enjoys himself, which is clear when you look at his living conditions, which are dark and cold constantly. After this vision, Scrooge realizes that the Ghost of Christmas Present symbolizes happiness and unity found in togetherness. Bob Cratchit is poor, but doesn’t mind it because he is happy to have his family with him. This really changes Scrooge because in the book when he finds out that Bob Cratchit has a crippled son he asks the ghost, “Tell me if Tiny Tim will live.” (Dickens Stave 3 Pg. 34) This shows that Scrooge cares about the survival of Tiny Tim, which he did not
