The title to the novella 'A Christmas Carol' this suggests that the story will be a joyful Christian message. 'Christmas' is a time for celebration and togetherness. It is the time for forgiveness, kindness and charity. 'Carol' is a chant which a group of people sing Christmas and Christian songs, so this is meant to be a time where people have fun and are united with family and friends. Ebenezer Scrooge is the major character, the miserly owner of a London counting-house, a nineteenth century term for an accountant's office, in the story, A Christmas Carol written by Charles Dickens. Charles Dickens born February 7th 1812 – 9th June 1870 is a highly remarkable novelist who had a vision to change wealthy people’s scrutiny on the underprivileged and by fulfilling the dream he writes novels. Furthermore, I think that Dickens wrote about poverty as he had experiences this awful incident in his upbringings. A Christmas Carol like many of Dickens' novels is set mainly in London sometime in the middle of the 19th century. I think this because that’s where Dickens is from and that is where the problems are occurring for example poverty. A Christmas Carol is jubilant spiritual hymns to celebrate the birth of Christ which is sang by a group of people friends, family and anybody who wants to. Dickens used his great talent by describing the city London were he mostly spent his time. By doing this Dickens permits readers to experience the sights, sounds, and smells of the aged city, London. Also when Scrooge went to his nephew Fred’s home and started dancing it looked like Scrooge was having fun and he fitted in a big happy family. But the most key moment was at the end when Scrooge was carrying Tiny Tim in his arms and then Tiny Time said ‘Bless us all’ I think that Charles Dickens message was to inform the rich, rude people to change their views on people that were underprivileged because they are poor it doesn’t mean that they are not human beings you treat them the same way just the way you would like to be treated. In the Victorian times if you were rich you were rich if you were poor you were poor nobody cared for each other. Dickens message in the Victorian Era was extremely important as Dickens tried to help the unfortunate ones by trying to change rich people’s scrutiny on them so they might help them in life.
