Working in a group can be a very challenging task. However if everyone in the group has the same end goal it can also be quite easy. Though group projects can be easy, they can quickly become stressful when things get hard. Whether it is decision making, conflicts, scheduling conflicts or overall participation conflicts, there will always be adversities that arise within a group and their project. Therefore, given my recent experience with my group, I can definitely state that group projects have their difficulties but if everyone is willing to make an effort to be engaged, the experience can be great exposure to valuable lifelong skills. I began realizing that depression is a big issue amongst college campuses all across the United States. This was very eye opening and it made me want to take action even more. I wanted to be a part of making a difference here on our own campus. I was very passionate of informing our peers and raising awareness for the cause. Depression is a very egregious mental health issue that can be prevented and overcome through a multitude of ways. As a group we wanted to make sure that UNI students understood and were aware of the number of resources and student health services available to them in case they are ever faces with this mental health illness or were aware of a friend or colleague in need of help. Therefore, we were all very engaged in the project because we all had to same end goal, which was to praise awareness and to lead those suffering to get the help they need. I believe that our group function very well together. Everyone was engaged and did what they needed to get done at the best of their abilities. When members from our group has questions, they were quick to ask the entire group through a group chat that was made at the very beginning of the project. In addition, everyone was very flexible with his or her time. Whenever we needed to decide on when and where to meet, everyone would always make time to meet in order to get things done. During our group meetings, everybody was engaged and constantly giving ideas and trying to help in any way possible. Though we were not a perfect group, we managed to stay on top of due dates and our assigned tasks. Therefore, the components of our group contract were never once violated because everyone did their part by participating, attending group meetings, and having their tasks completed and ready to go. We always backed each other on doing a task, in addition I found respectable friends. What was the most difficult aspect of being in your group? The most difficult aspect of being in my group was being creative our members were very creative, and representing them with creative ideas was very difficult for me, because almost all off my ideas were dropped, but at the end it just made me more creative.

For my project, I have selected the project is the College Democrats Club, this club was chosen because of how active they are in the area, both inside and outside of Creighton. This club has regular meetings of at least once a week along with additional meetings with state representatives and other local political figures. Their goal is to provide students with an outlet to become knowledgeable and informed voters who are able to educate and create and environment based off of democratic values. Due to their activity in the communities they will be a prime community to map and will be able to provide the information for this project needed with great ease. The group project turned to be an amazing first time experience for me on working as a member of a team for organizing an event. I find it safe to say that it would not have been possible if I were on my own. Each effort from the individual group member made it possible to create an event that I could never imagine at the start of the project. Through this project I have learned what actually working in a group is and how amazing things can happen if many hands and heads are working together. On Friday and Saturday night, I helped oversee the young ladies from Bingo, Amanda, Ana, and Kathleen so they could be trained on "quarterbacking." Over the course of these nights I was able to gain further insight into the new system. Thanks to their help we can hopefully improve further on this system as I will further discuss. After their shifts I collected the ladies feedback, as well as some of the servers input as well. Their concerns were primarily ones that have been discussed already such as not getting drinks, orderings going unfulfilled, and orders not being delivered. They also felt concerned with customers getting upset at them when orders were not fulfilled, or the servers for to many orders, but that will be overcome.
However, we must choose our path to follow instead of doing what others think we should do. I had a group project to complete, and we were a group of four. The group that I participated in was the parents without partners group that provides support for women who are raising children on their own as well as providing resources to encourage empowerment. The group consisted of women from middle to high income socioeconomic backgrounds and appeared to be independent and educated women. Zoe and Kayla facilitated the group while Vanina, Abby, Michelle, Karen, Stephanie, and I were the participants.

I had expectations of our group, as well as the other members, I hoped that everyone would work hard and contribute to the assignment equally. We tried to keep everything fair by dividing the sections of the essay, so that everyone was contributing and not just one person completing all the work by themselves.
When I was in high school, and one of my teachers would ask us to form groups in order to do something, I would usually roll my eyes. Ironically enough, some of the best work that I put forth and learned from was done in a group work setting. By working with my peers towards a common end, I got things done much quicker and thorough than I ever did on my own.
In the team project this semester, I intend to contribute to the success of the team in designing, building, and operating a method for dispensing the rings into the boxes and writing functional code for the robot. I am intrigued by the design of a ring dispensing method. In the robot competition last semester, I noticed a certain flaw in most of the robots which dispensed rings. The flaw was that they all used a servo to deliver the ring. If the robot did not properly line up with the box the ring would not land inside of the box. In order to solve this problem, I devised a way for the rings to be dispensed without the need of a servo. By not using a servo, the ring dispensing has to be triggered by the robot lining up with the box
My co-operative behavior and the agreeable behavior I exhibited contributed to the harmony and the success of the group. The co-operation that was exhibited was relative to prompt arrival to meetings, meeting group deadlines, and thorough participation in the discussions and the forums of the group. While I was indeed co-operative for most of the group sessions, I was not afraid to speak my mind. My strongest writing skills were illustrated with the expression and analysis of the benefits and the drawbacks associated with the group project.
