What makes a good leader? What makes a good leader is having the experience, knowledge, and skills to undertake the tasks and responsibilities.A leader would work toward their goals and succeed. There are many different characteristics to become a leader “Leadership is the art of leading others to deliberately create a result that wouldn’t have happened otherwise” (Search Inside Yourself). This is a great definition of being a leader and how they should rule. Some leaders can either have all or only some qualities to become a good leader. One good leader is George Washington. He is the founding father of the United States of America and the first president of the United States and president of the Constitution convention. He was a military general who led the United States in war against the British Colonial rulers to free the Americans in the eighteenth century. Washington was one of the greatest statesman because of his abilites of being a leader. He guided this country in its initial years of independence and refused opportunities for to to make the United States a dictatorship. “I cannot insist too strongly how I was surprised by the American Army. It is truly incredible that troops almost naked, poorly paid, and composed of old men and children and Negroes should behave so well on the march and under fire.” (George Washington: Life Before the Presidency) This quote describes naked, poor, elderly people and children work hard than most people and get hardly any money for all their hard work. Which is why George Washington put this in his book. his good leadership mostly came after he retired and went back to his career as a farmer. Later on John Adams asked Washington to be Commander in Chief of the United States... ... middle of paper ... ...t person in the western world to have shown us that a struggle can be waged without violence. He is the first to make the message of brotherly love and reality in the course of his struggle and he has brought this message to all men, to all nations and races. Today we pay tribute to Martin Luther King, the man who has never abandoned his faith in the unarmed struggle he is waging, who has suffered for his faith, who has been imprisoned on many occasions, whose home has been subject to bomb attacks, whose life and the lives of his family have been threatened, and who nevertheless has never faltered” ( 1964 Nobel Peace Prize, chairman of the Nobel Committee). This quote describes what King has done for his African American citizens in order for them to get their rights, freedom, and respect that was given to the white people. Today he is seen as a human rights icon.
