All around the world people lose their faith in God for many different reason, either they or a love one has been diagnose with and deadly disease or an unexpected death occur in there family, they need somebody to blame, so most of them God. In Elie Wisel novel "Night" Elie explain how his faith in God was tested throughout the book, as he was force to leave his home, separated from his family, observe how many was being killed all around him, and witness children being thrown into huge ditches of fire, alive! Elie felt abandon, betrayed, and deceive, the God that he knew was an loving and giving God, it was then he started to doubt his existence. The unexplainable events that occur forever change Elie feelings for God.
As Elie try hardly to hold on to his faith, his life was flashing right before his eyes, leaving his home to live in the ghetto, then as his and other lives was getting back normal they was then force out the ghetto, to either be put to death or live in an Concentration Camps, “Not far from us, flames huge flames, were rising from a ditch. Something was being burned there. A Truck drew close and unloaded its hold: small children. Babies! Yes, I did see this, with my own eyes… children thrown into flames. (Is it any wonder that ever since then, sleep tends to elude me?)" Everything around Elie was happen very fast, he couldn't believe it, on how a benevolent God could be part of such depravity, "Why did I pray?... Why did I live? Why did I breathe?" Elie prayed because he believe, he live and breathe to worship thee Almighty. The holocaust forces Elie to ask horrible question, question that doubted God’s ability. It became clear to Elie that God didn’t have any intention to help, so why should Elie Pray before God, “How could I say to him: Blessed be Thou Almighty, Master of the Universe, who chose us among all nations to be tortured day and night, to watch as our fathers, our mothers, our Brothers end up in the furnaces?

Elie wanted answer, he wanted to know where the merciful God is. His quietness worries Elie the most. His faith getting weaker by the moment, as he witness child being hung and dying a slow death, Elie heard somebody behind him say “For God sake, where is God?” Elie thought to himself, “Where he is? This is where hanging here from this gallows” although hundreds already had been killed, Elie eyes couldn’t bare the sight of this innocent being hung, how is this possible and God swore to watch over and bless them. If God really its existents of could he bare the sight of one of his children being hung. It was then Elie believes men create God, and now men are destroying God.
Elie believe that God had indeed betray him and the rest of the Jews, if it wasn’t so, then explain why God was letting this disaster happen, “All I, the former mystic, was thinking. Yes man is stranger, greater then God, When Adam and Eve deceived you, You chase them from paradise. When you displease by Noah’s generation, You brought down the flood. When Sodom lost your favor, You caused the Heaven to rain down Fire and Damnation. But look at these men whom you have betrayed, allow them to be tortured, slaughter, gassed, and burn, what do they do? They pray before You. They Praise your name.” These men and women are you faithful servant, and God betrayed them, God them great confusion and Heartache, Elie believe God know exactly what he was doing, as god remained silent, he allow millions of innocent life to be killed.
The existence of the horror, and the lack of a divine response, Elie was losing hope in God, the very hope the allow him to believe. Elis prayed is to prove his worthiness, hoping God with bring good blessing to him and his family. Chosen to remain silence, God sacrificed more than six million lives, of the ones that indeed worship thee Lord. Elie was severely getting tested in his faith, but he never really doubted God existence, just his fairness. The holocaust completely change Elie life, hard to say but for the better. When the first America troops arrived, were the first signs of this crisis finally being over. It shows that God works in mysterious way, which even lowest moments in life it seems like God really abandon you, but He was right beside you suffering with you, for every long hateful night, there will a bright morning.
