Logic is defined as a proper or reasonable way of thinking about or understanding something (Merriam-Webster).Many times people find themselves being involved in arguments with friends and even coworkers.It happens everyday.Without arguments our society would not be so highly advanced. The legalization of marijuana has been a controversial topic for many years in the United States.Myths about marijuana have been become endless and many people don't realize that almost all of them are false. Throughout the years, people have been made believe that marijuana not only affects our bodies but also our minds.When growing up California I was told with great seriousness that any kind of drugs were unacceptable for me from my parents and my school.As my guides I would listen to them they were wise and had gone through so many experiences in their life.Even though, people knew that certain drugs were illegal they would still go against the law.Why would someone want to go against the law,parents suggestions and on top of that put ones health at risk?As a became older I became to do research on my own and discovered that what I had been informed was not necessarily true.Marijuana has been wrongful evaluated in society and that must changed.Numerous people use marijuana for socialization, relaxation, religious reasons and medical reasons. Former President Jimmy Carter once said: "Penalties against drug usage should not be more damaging to an individual than the use of the drug itself".I believe that marijuana should be legalized because the possession of marijuana deteriorates law enforcement resources that could be utilized to fight violent crime at the same time using taxpayers ,as well as the United States would be economically relieved a... ... middle of paper ... ...a doorway to a much more open and liberal drug policies that can definitely benefit the nation as a whole.Legalization in marijuana in short will help law enforcement to focus much more on violent crime, prohibition will not happen therefore saying much money, and the medical benefits will help patients with severe pain. That is not to mention that marijuana may have its downfalls because there is no false statement in that.The reasons people fight for legalization is because society has buried themselves in the idea that marijuana is a drug that will lead to the destruction of thousand of people.We must move ahead and stop judging whether it may be a person,ideas, and actions and focus on the facts not the speculations. Not legalizing marijuana in itself is a much more substantial offense than now that it is being used without authorization of the government.
