The Effects of September 11 on US Economy
Since the horrific attacks on the United States on Sept 11th, the nation’s economy has greatly dropped into a recession, although the economy was already in trouble before Sept. 11th. Due to this incident and all the effects it has caused, it is right to blame this recession on the terrorist attacks of Sept 11th.
Almost half of the states faced budget shortfalls for 2001 or 2002, which caused most peoples lives to change after the attacks. Even the U.S. economy effectively took a vacation for the rest of September. It fell greatly and caused multibillion dollar losses to many companies and industries around the nation. Some of these companies and industry were a great part in the turning wheel of the U.S. economy. (Sivy, n.pg.)
Prior to Sept 11th, the slowed US economy still however showed good signs of growth. Some signs were that companies were producing products for stores at a higher rate to provide the customers with more and more choices to choose from. This undoubtedly helped the economy grow for a while.
The nations production of American made products were on the move before the attacks but have still slowly bounced back as more and more people buy American made products. For North American Natural Gas, "prices weakness, and growth in domestic and import gas supply, and a strong position combined with the potential weakness in the US economy are likely to dampen US natural gas demand even further." (Khan, n.pg.)
It’s unclear how the attacks will affect the economic picture in most states, but in some places it’s already obvious. New York faces a very painful situation, and will need more federal help, even though federal spending has passed the $40 billion mark just in aid for these cities. States that depended on tourism for their income have greatly felt the impact of the recession. Places like Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, and California, are hurting as more and more people cancel vacations and stay close to home. Many people are still scared and skeptical to fly. That is also why many Airplane fares have risen since the staggering number of people purchase tickets to fly away. Many companies have filed bankruptcy and are stuck in the recession with billion dollar debts. (Theophanous, n.pg.)
California’s economy also depends on tourism, the energy crisis cost the state $6 billion. And manufacturing states, like Ohio and Michigan, already hurt by the slowdown, are unsure when things will get better.
The events that unfolded on September 11th and the days that followed also profoundly effected the stock market. It is the purpose of this paper is to examine what happened to both the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the NASDAQ after September 11th and how it is similar to events such as the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the Oklahoma City bombing, and the Gulf War in terms of how the stock market experienced a blow and bounced back after a while.
398).It is also stated that news divisions reduced their costs, and raised the entertainment factor of the broadcasts put on air. (p. 400). Secondly, the media determines its sources for stories by putting the best journalists on the case and assign them to areas where news worthy stories just emanates. (p.400). Third, the media decides how to present the news by taking the most controversial or relevant events and compressing them into 30 second sound-bites. (p.402). finally, the authors also explain how the media affects the general public. The authors’ state “The effect of one news story on public opinion may be trivial but the cumulative effect of dozens of news stories may be important. This shows a direct correlation between public opinions and what the media may find “relevant”. (Edwards, Wattenberg, Lineberry, 2015, p.
* The economy in the US and around the World was affected since the war on terror began.
On September 11, 2001, Osama Bin Ladin executed the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil. The attack killed over 2,900 people, and since then America has changed in many ways. One example is the phobia people now have against people of Middle-Eastern decent or people that practice the Islamic religion. Since people think differently of these groups, they do not treat them with the respect they give to other people. They can be denied jobs, education, housing because of their religion and/or their Middle Eastern background. Another example on how America has changed since 9/11, is the airport security has grown largely. The new change can impact many travelers, as well it spends a lot of the American government’s money.

In Jacquelyn Small’s book “Becoming Naturally Therapeutic: A Return to the True Essence of Helping,” I explored what it takes to be a genuinely helpful counselor. Although I do not intend to pursue a career in counseling, her book touches on various topics that may be used by all individuals. Small provides her readers with a check-list of characteristic ranging from empathy to respect to self-actualization that are virtually essential to becoming therapeutic.
Not only did Carter and Reagan Administrations help cause the Recession, President Clinton helped. “Clinton then established official government poli...
Millions of people suffer from the same tossing and turning every which way, getting their sheets all disarranged and their insistent minds abundantly worse. Patients often proclaim indications of insomnia while sitting in the family health clinic. Insomnia traits include hindrance falling asleep, continueing to awaken, and rejuvenating before wanted. One may suffer from insomnia if one shows signs of an increased difficulty in attentiveness, decreased communal or scholastic skills, and a diminished mood or enthusiasm. (Foldvary-Schaefer 111). Countless individuals deal with insomnia for a large amount of their lives and some choose differing treatments, while some do not use any treatments at all. While never being uncommon, the amounts of causes leading to insomnia come in boundlessly; finding new studies and stories every day.
As Americans, we used to worry little about war, having enough to eat, travel, freedom, and our most basic everyday activities. The tragic events of September 11, 2001 have forever changed the American way of life. We have become more concerned with our physical safety because of the endless terror attacks in America and other countries. Americans have certainly become more patriotic since September 11. Many of us watch the news to learn of any new terror attack or major offensive against cities in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, a variety of countries in Africa, Yemen and numerous other locations. The stock exchange hit bottom on September 21 in the 8100 range and is now back over 17,000 (Pellegrini). Oil prices have been dropping, which will help to boost our slowing economy. Unemployment rates will unfortunately probably remain the same. "Manpower, Inc. said Monday that its survey of United States companies' hiring intentions for the first three months of the year barely registered a pulse, but our commitment together to boost the nation's economy will ensure a bright future. America's future seems to be based on our new ideas formed since September 11, but yet we still carry on the problems of the past. There is still many Americans living in poverty. There is still illegal drugs that infest our nation with addiction and crime that encircles the drug trade. There are many children not getting a good education and many of whom who are fearful of violence at our schools. It is up to us as Americans to face these problems head on now more than ever before.
According to religious beliefs, greed in one of the seven deadly sins. But there are people who believes that greed is good. Starting from Donald Trump to Novel Prize Winning Economist Milton Friedman share the same views. There are incentives if you are greedy, such that it forces you to thrive for success, which results to innovation. Donald Trump recently stated, “I’m very greedy…And greedy for the United States”. Andrew Weil, a physician featured in Time’s Magazine stated, “Fear and greed are potent motivators. When both of these forces push in the same direction, virtually no human being can resist”. But I was not convinced with these statements. Hence, I started doing research to decipher
Although Hudgins and Larkin’s poems are considerably different, the message is the same. Similarly, in both “Begotten,” and “This Be the Verse,” it is apparent from the beginning that both narrators believe that they are whom they are due to traits passed on from family.
The counselor accomplishes the above by expressing empathy, developing discrepancies, going along with resistance and supporting self-efficacy. Moreover, the counselor guides the client toward a solution that will lead to permanent posi...
For many clients, the experience of counseling may be viewed as an advantageous relationship that has not only assisted them in modifying their cognition and behavior, to a more rational approach but has allowed them to encounter alternative solutions that can provide a new way of living. Unfortunately all good things must come to an end and when clients exemplify that their goals have been attained, the counseling relationship must be terminated. On the contrary, not all counseling relationships or sessions close on a good note, which may precipitate premature termination. Nevertheless, counselors must still implement closing tactics when terminating any session or relationship in therapy, despite their causes (Jacobs & Schimmel, 2012, pgs. 160-162). To further understand these strategies, I will elaborate on one uncommon reason a therapist might terminate a counseling relationship and describe specific steps of closing tactics that were displayed in Dr. Patton’s counseling video. In addition, I will also list five key points counselors should consider when terminating a counseling session and provide an analogy of one point that is being utilized in Dr. Buckley’s video (Laureate Education, 2010).
Throughout mankind's history, each person has contributed to their own society as well as human civilizations' advancement overall, through a specific craft. Every type of craft, or career, requires specific knowledge and abilities. One career path that people choose to follow is that of an engineer. There are many types of engineering fields to pursue, such as aerospace engineering and agricultural engineering. Another engineering profession that has recently risen to prominence is civil engineering. Unlike most career fields, engineers create physical products and offer concrete services. Without infrastructure, nations would economically fall apart and transportation related services would be impacted negatively. Individuals in the civil engineering field supervise the construction of a society's foundation and in most cases, introduce new inventions, innovations and methods. Civil Engineers not only design infrastructure, but they also design ways to connect people of all cultures.
