Since the nineties, our gas emissions have increased so much, the atmosphere suffers the consequences. In my opinion it is do to the slothful citizens of our country. We have so many different benefits in the United States that we tend to become a glutton to items we do not need such as televisions in every room, also, significantly, more than one car. Oftentimes it leads to driving to the mailbox right in front of the house. Therefore, Carbon Dioxide, water vapor, and Ozone, and smaller greenhouse gases such as Methane, Nitrous Oxide, and chlorofluorocarbons are released when they could’ve been prevented.
These gases collect a thick layer in the atmosphere. Out of the sunlight received on Earth, some of it escapes through space. With too much of the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, some of the supposedly escaping heat is kept in Earth. Consequently, the heat causes very dire problems on our planet. “Global warming can lead to floods/droughts, increasing ocean temperatures: rising sea levels, polar caps melt (coastal cities?), and crop/forest damage due to changes in precipitation” (notes 02/21).
In order to avoid such horrible outcomes, gas emissions had to be improved; an agreement was made. In December 1997, one hundred and forty one countries met in Kyoto, Japan to negotiate the Kyoto Protocol. In this collaboration, it was discussed to reduce Carbon Dioxide and five other greenhouse gases or turn to engage trading. Engage trading is an economic system to reduce air pollution. If a country was to go over the emission’s quota, they had to buy how much of the gases were going to be over emission. The system of Emissions Trading could be somewhat compared to a cell phone bill; you get a certain amount of minutes, if you go over, you pay the amount. The Kyoto Protocol took affect in February 16th, 2005. Countries that did not participate were Australia, and not surprisingly, our beautiful United States.
Regardless of what my country decides or disagrees, I believe we should begin a new day without having to put these harmful substances on our air.
Senator Webster is from the New England states and was around the age of 68 at the time of the speech. In the speech, he regards himself not as a Massachusetts man, but as an American man. In doing so, he does not provide a bias view and is able to have a clear stance on the issue. The second senatorial speech is by Senator John C. Calhoun who was also in favor of the Fugitive Slave Act. Senator Calhoun, who hailed from South Carolina, wrote this speech for the people that were against the Fugitive Slave Act. In the speech, he says that the North believed that slavery was a sin and a crime. If the union decided to rid of slavery, then the South would ultimately secede and become it’s own nation. Calhoun knew that the Fugitive Slave Act was needed because without it the nation could split. The final speech was by Senator Charles Sumner who was from Massachusetts and was against the Fugitive Slave Act. In the speech, he states that he speaks of the National Government. He speaks through the views of the nation rather than his own self. This provides no bias, which adds to the validity of his speech. He states ,”Slavery, I now repeat, is not mentioned in the Constitution. The name Slave does not pollute this Charter of our Liberties. No "positive" language gives to Congress any power to make a Slave or to hunt a Slave.”. This shows that slavery and
The Greeks made huge contributions to the Western Civilization and there are many well known and celebrated Greeks that lead these contributions. There were Greeks such as Archimedes who contributed greatly in mathematics or Greeks like Socrates, who devoted his life to gaining self-knowledge and was one of the great philosophers at that time. Architecture was also greatly influenced by the great minds Ancient Greece and their great buildings such as the Parthenon. Out of all their contributions, one of their least known but most important would be their government because of how much the United States of America’s democracy resembles that of Greek’s.

Higher temperatures can the physiological development of crops such as causing increased respirations, shorter periods of seed formation and reduced biomass production which all result in hastened maturation and reduced crop yields (Adejuwon, 2004). Global warming and drought have affected the change in the incidence and distribution of pests and pathogens which presents challenges for crop management and animal rearing. Moisture and temperature are important elements of climate which determine the occurrence and localization of pests and diseases (Adejuwon, 2004). This is because pests and diseases vectors thrive well in optimum conditions of high temperature and abundant water supply. In this way climate change and global warming has extended the range of distribution of some pests and diseases worsening the plight of farmers.
When Congo gained its independence from Belgium it struggled to develop and remained a weak state. There were many factors that led to Congo being unable to progress and create strong institutions within its countries borders. “Political divisions along the ethnic lines were prevalent, though this fact could be misleading. Ethnicity became the primary source of political mobilization i...
Geometry, a cornerstone in modern civilization, also had its beginnings in Ancient Greece. Euclid, a mathematician, formed many geometric proofs and theories [Document 5]. He also came to one of the most significant discoveries of math, Pi. This number showed the ratio between the diameter and circumference of a circle.
Congo's Civil War began on November 2nd, 1998 when Laurent Kabila tried to drive out Rwandan militants who helped him overthrow Mobutu Sese Seko.2 Sese Seko came into power in 1966 when he led a rebellion to overthrow the government of Patrice Lumumbra. Sese Seko led to Africanizing of the country by requiring that all citizens drop their Christan names, and by renaming all the geographical locations with more African names.3 During the 1980's Sese Seko's government received support from the United States, in response to communism's rising popularity in Africa. Because of the misuse of the funds and wealth generated by natural resources, the rich got richer and the poor fell farther into poverty. Sese Seko abused Congo's natural resources and eventually helped lead the country into a state of economic ruin. In 1997 Sese Seko was overthrown by Laurent Kabila. When Kabila took over the country it was in terrible condition but he did nothing to try and improve the state of the nation. When he tried to expel the same Rwandan rebels that helped him come to power, he started a war that eventually led to his death. Many various ethnic and rebel groups inside of Congo who relied on the Rwandans for protection joined the uprising.4 Africans inside and around Congo chose s...
In talking about global warming, we need to learn what causes the greenhouse effect. Rays from the sun are taken up and absorbed by water vapor that is natural in the atmosphere. The United States emits the largest man made greenhouse gases in the world. As Americans we must realize the responsibility to reduce the emissions. (Gore, Albert) Water Vapor is eighty percent of greenhouse warming. The last twenty percent results from other gases that are in very little amounts. A huge absorber of the sun’s heat rays is carbon dioxide. Us as humans release a lot of carbon dioxide. When fossil fuels are burned, they release big amounts of carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is on the increase in our atmosphere due to car emissions. Approximately eighty percent of CO2 increases because of man’s use of fossil fuels. When there is more carbon dioxide in our atmosphere the more sun rays are absorbed. In result to this happening this will cause the earth and the earths atmosphere to warm. When the earth is warming, water temperatures will start to get warmer. Oceans and lakes will get warmer in result f...
Air pollution and greenhouse gases are the reason for the planet as it is today; the reason why we see campaigns flooding the media informing us to ‘switch off’, ‘save the planet’ and ‘turn down the heat’ and the reason why the government is trying to develop a successful scheme, such as the carbon tax scheme, to reduce air pollution caused by major industries. Air pollution and greenhouse gases are the two immediate causes of global warming and climate change. Air pollution occurs when chemicals or particulate matter enter the atmosphere. They can cause damage to living organisms on the planet, as well as destruction to the natural and synthetic environment (Energy Environment.net 2008). Greenhouse gases are gases in the atmosphere that absorb infrared radiation emitted from the earth. They trap infrared radiation in the form of heat, and hence contribute to global warming. Anthropogenic greenhouse gases are a direct result of air pollution. They are the physical gases emitted that cause air pollution. Naturally occurring greenhouse gases also have an influence on the earth’s atmosphere, though it is not as conspicuous as anthropogenic causes. Together, air pollution and greenhouse gases are intensifying climate change and global warming on a world-wide basis.
We burn fossil fuels, we use aerosol cans, etc. Those create greenhouse gasses and get stuck in the atmosphere and can promote climate change and global warming which is bad all over. When there are too many greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere the sun’s rays cannot as easily bounce off of the earth and back into to space, but instead get trapped and heat the earth 's crust making the average ground temp higher which is essentially global warming. Global warming affects the whole world. Ice melts and raises the water level covering areas of land where people and animals live. It also raises the temperature in general which is not good for human or living things health. When climate changes, things get out of balance. It is not easy to reverse ozone depletion at the rate we have been going. We only get one ozone layer and if we put too many holes in it without giving it time to heal itself it will be bad for future generations. Climate change is also a problem. It changes the pattern of weather which is confusing for the environments
Often times, I can’t help but wonder what my life would be like if I haven’t been exposed to the world of business; a wonderful career that changed my life completely. I have taken interest in business career because I love calculating numbers and interacting with people; But most importantly, my fascination in business came from my grandfather. He taught me many valuable tips on how to be a successful person, and most certainly how to run a business. He was not only a successful businessman, but also a respected individual. One of the businesses that he owned was a company called “Wu Long Tea Factory”. The main thing that they produce is tea of course, but they also have products such as cakes, candies, and all kinds of stuff. By being the production manager’s assistant of this company, I was able to experience everything that was going on in the factory. Even though that was the background I grew up in, my biggest fascination wasn’t in being a manager in a factory; it was the finance part that got me all excited. Often times I can even see myself sitting in my office and work on clients’ financial profiles and statements. I also took extra math classes and participated in many of the competitions in order to prepare myself to succeed in this particular field. Other things that I also did to get me well prepared are joining school activities, applying internships, and having jobs. I believe that all my hard work will pay off, when I see myself as a successful businessman.
The course was useful in understanding of the interconnected nature of business organisations and the importance of decision making in increasingly competitive and globalized markets.
The change in climate has been a topic of controversy across the world throughout the past years. Scientists have done research on how climate changes has changed throughout the years around the world. In the past few years, research shows that climate has changed dramatically in the world. Although climate change is something that occurs normally in nature, there has been substantial evidence that mankind is a contributor to the dramatic increase. Most countries around the world have got together to discuss how to reduce mankind’s contribution to climate change, but there is other countries that still do not consider this as a problem. Research conducted by scientists have supported the idea that climate
Why do we study Business? Many people study business because it offers so many career opportunities in general and plus everything that we deal in today society has to do with business. Think about the clothes, shoes, etc. you wearing today and then think of what business made it very possible for us to be wearing those merchandise and top of that it satisfied the sellers that’s buying the product this is called tangible and intangible good that provide satisfaction and benefits of its product. The of field business itself offer us a variety interest and challenges career opportunity throughout the world, such as marketing, managements, finance production and many more that you could think of, thinking about all those processes and people begin to understand about what business studies is all about. Business is a big major part of everyone life and anybody who has good idea how businesses work are at an immediate advantaged in the future. If you have some knowledge in business, it will help you to become a more conversant consumer and to market yourself well while looking for a job and also help generate profits that essential.
