The Role of Friar Lawrence and the Nurse in the Deaths of Romeo and Juliet
Romeo and Juliet is a story of two young person who were in love with
each other. They fall in love which is the only mistake that they did.
They would never know that their love would lead to tragedy. According
to my opinion there are three main aspects which effected Romeo’s and
Juliet’s life which are Friar Lawrence, the nurse, and fate.
There were brawls going on between families who are Montagues and
Capulets. Romeo was a Montague and Juliet was a Capulet. So they can’t
meet each other in the way that they wanted to. They could only meet
secretly. To communicate each other the nurse helped them by carrying
messages between them. Basically the nurse act like a messenger. Also
W.Sheakspear used him as a comic character so that she can relive the
tragedy and make the play move intense. She provides a contrast in
type of love which is physical, sexual and bawdy but love between
Romeo and Juliet is romantic.
Friar Lawrance who is a Catholic Priest is the other chatacter to
blame. He was acting as a peacemaker. He was trying to bring peace
between families. He was acting like a father to Romeo. One day
morning Romeo went up to the Friar and asked him to marry Romeo and
Juliet. Friar Lawrence said yes and hoped that it would bring peace
between families. But he was just hoping that it will all go positive.
He said ‘turn your households’ rancour to pure love.’ He was right but
only in someways. When he said ‘these violent delights have violent
ends.’ I can’t help myself to think about something bad is going to
happen.
Romeo and Juliet were going to meet again but Juliet was shocked after
she heard that her cousin Tybalt is dead. When she heard that he got
killed by Romeo, she was compeletly surprised. It didn’t take too much
for Juliet to get the other bad news. It was the prince of Verona
Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy- but it did not have to be. Romeo and Juliet is the tragic story of two star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, who are the son and daughter of two feuding families, the Montagues and the Capulets. Written by the famed playwright Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet take place in the 14-15 century in the cities of Verona and Mantua, cities in northern Italy. After a series of events that involves Romeo getting banished from Verona and Juliet getting forced to marry a count, Paris, they kill themselves. It has been argued for centuries about who is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. But, once reading the book thoroughly and consulting several sources, it is obvious who is solely to blame- Friar Lawrence. Because of the actions of Friar Lawrence, the play ended with two grieving families instead of two happy newlyweds. Although many characters contributed to their deaths, only Friar Lawrence was solely responsible for them. Friar Lawrence’s cowardice, secrecy, and miscommunication led directly to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.
Youth and Age Should Friar Lawrence and the Nurse have been more careful about the way they encouraged Romeo and Juliet’s love? To what extent does Shakespeare present them as being to blame?
The Extent to Which Friar Lawrence is Responsible for the Deaths of Romeo and Juliet
Nurse and Friar Lawrence in William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet Juliet’s nurse and Friar Lawrence play a major part in the build up to the death of Romeo and Juliet, and they contribute to the tragedy of the play in many ways. They are the two people who arrange the marriage and try their best to make Romeo and Juliet be together. Friar Lawrence is involved with both the character of Romeo, and the character of Juliet, and it is his job to look after them, as he is their confessor, and they go to him to talk about things they have done wrong and things they are worried about. It is also his job to forgive people (in God’s name) for their wrongdoings, and give them advice. The Friar is sought by many characters for advice, including Romeo, Paris, and The Nurse.
Now because of this both of them turn to him for help when they are in
Romeo and Juliet, a drama play by William Shakespeare, tells the tale of two star crossed lovers. In the city of Verona 1590, two love struck teenagers, are predestined to meet. They are forbidden to be with one another for a feud by their progenitors has doomed them with a forever lasting hatred for one another. Defying those rules, the two decide to keep their love a secret, ending their lives in a way no one would have imagined. Some say they acted like children, some say they were just in a daze, but despite knowing the risks and consequences of loving Juliet, Romeo continues to ignore them and fight for more time with her, resulting in his own demise.
In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Juliet’s Nurse and Friar Lawrence both intentionally advance Romeo and Juliet’s relationship, yet they help for very different reasons. The Nurse firmly believes that “women grow by men,” meaning that young girls should marry a proper man, aids Juliet’s relationship with Romeo so that Juliet herself could be happily married (1.2.95). Just before the Capulet ball, the Nurse encourages Juliet to “seek happy nights and happy days” urging her to watch for a suitable match at the ball, especially Paris (1.4.106). On the following day, the Nurse, sent by Juliet, willfully rushes to Romeo and arranges the next meeting between the two lovers because her greatest wish is for Juliet to be happily married. Before planning the union of the two
Romeo and Juliet is a play written by William Shakespeare, where a boy and a girl fall in love with each other during a party hosted by Juliet’s father, Lord Capulet. The two teenager decide to get marry, despite their family's hate for each other and only meeting each other a few hours ago. However, the Montagues (Romeo’s Parents) and the Capulets end their feud after they discover that their children killed themselves. Romeo and Juliet’s death was caused by Juliet’s parents, Juliet, and Friar Lawrence.
Romeo and Juliet is a timeless tale of lovers who's misfortune and immaturity was a cause of their own destruction. The characters individually show immaturity and together demonstrate how ignorance of the world effects more than just their own lives. Romeo and Juliet, as expressed in the succeeding examples, fall in love quickly as a result of their naivety.
“Have lost a brace of kinsmen: all are punish’d” (V iii 312). The Prince states this at the end of the play after the death of Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare's tragedy, Romeo and Juliet, tells the story about a long feud between the Montague and Capulet families. This feud causes tragic results for the main characters in the play, Romeo and Juliet. The events contrast hatred and revenge with love and a secret marriage, forcing the young star-crossed lovers to grow up quickly and die tragically in despair. In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the person who holds the most responsibility for the deaths of the lovers is Friar Lawrence because of marrying Romeo and Juliet, abandoning a suicidal Juliet at the tomb, and helping Juliet fake her death.
Romeo and Juliet is a play about two young lovers, whose love was destined for destruction from the beginning because of the hatred between the two families, Montagues and Capulets. Shakespeare juxtaposes the themes of love and hatred. He continuously puts them side by side, and even though they are opposites, when seen together you realise that they are driven from the same thing; passion. Shakespeare uses many different language and dramatic techniques to convey this idea.
William Shakespeare’s “Romeo & Juliet,” is arguably the most widely known tragic love story of all time. Although it has been the subject of debate and controversy, it has inspired many love stories in recent times. One of the most controversial details of the play, are the relationships that Friar Lawrence and Nurse, have with Romeo and Juliet. Many argue that they were not being responsible with their actions regarding Romeo and Juliet’s marriage. Others say that their actions were justified, because the two teens trusted them. Nurse and Friar Lawrence did not do the “right thing” in this situation, and contributed to the events which eventually led to the death of Romeo and Juliet.
Friar Lawrence and his plan were partially responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. When Juliet approached Friar Lawrence about her parents’ wish of her marrying Paris, he was quick to suggest a plan that would reunite Romeo and J...
Romeo and Juliet is a tragic story about a pair of star-crossed lovers whose demises were unexpected to most. However, their deaths were a result of their impulsiveness. It caused their problematic marriage, Romeo’s preventable death, as well as Juliet’s preventable death.
Romeo and Juliet is a romantic love story about a young lad named Romeo who has fallen in love with Lady Juliet, but is unable to marry her because of a long-lasting family feud. The play ends in the death of both these characters and the reunion of the friendship between the families. Romeo is in love with Juliet, and this is a true, passionate love (unlike the love Paris has for her or the love Romeo had for Rosaline) that nothing can overcome, not even the hatred between their two families that is the reason for the death of their two children. Throughout the play, Shakespeare thoroughly explores the themes of both true love and false love and hatred. Without either of these themes, the play would loose its romantic touch and probably would not be as famous as it is today.
