The Mall Experience - Personal Narrative
The loud scream pierced through the Patrick Henry Mall air. It was cold and eerie night, but I as in the best place that I could see fit the mall. When I'm inside those four walls I feel that there is nothing that could harm me, except for maybe a credit card reaching it's limit or the store not having any more mediums in the cutest cashmere sweater I've ever seen in my life. Anyway like I was saying, yeah so I heard this really loud scream that totally disturbed the whole shopping atmosphere. I was like hey, I really don't have to go back to work until one since I'm on my lunch break, and I've hit all the sales already, I might as well se where the hell that scream came from. So I cautiously Charlie's Angeled it around the mall hiding behind manicans and ducking behind the plants, just kidding, until, I heard it again. It sounded like it was coming from the pet shop, but what could it be; maybe somebody got bitten or a cat pissed on somebody shoe. Wait a minute, now it was like continuing non stop and seemed never ending I kinda felt like something was wrong for real so I sprinted to where the noise was coming from and looked all around but I couldn't see anything until I looked down. There was a red-faced lady laying on the floor scream and yelling "get it off me, get it off me". A huge tarantula that had wrecked havoc on the whole shop was attacking the lady. It had thrown over tables and broken glass cages, and now it was about to kill this poor middle-aged lady. What was I supposed to do? Who am I supposed to call? I brilliantly said, "Hold on I'll help you, what do you want me to do?" The lady responded, "What do you think I want you to do, get this thing off of me now". " Hey lady there's now reason to get upset or anything" I replied shocked by her rude response, " I'm trying to help you out, and its just a spider its not like you could die or something, oh wait you could die" The lady replied sarcastically, " Yeah I could die, so you think you could just shut the hell up for like 2 seconds and just call for help.
In the article, “Mayhem at the Mall,” The Cafaro Company based in Ohio, coordinated a training exercise to prepare local crisis officials in the event of a mall shooting. The training exercise took years to construct, and was created to ensure local crisis officials respond efficiently and effectively. The Cafaro Company aimed to make the “active shooter” scenario realistic. The scenario was implemented at Meadowbrook Mall property, in Bridgeport, W.Va. The training exercise involved local police, firefighters, and mall employees. John Karlovic, Chief of Security at Cafaro’s Company, reached out to police department’s in the communities where the own malls, supplied them with blue prints, tenant lists, and invited them to in to practice, (Bell,
On June 9, 2018 at approximately 1556 hours, I responded to the Walmart located at 8701 US HWY 19 Port Richey, FL in reference to a W/F in the store who had previously been issued a trespass warning. Upon my arrival, I made contact with Walmart Loss Prevention Associate Marion Edwards and Walmart Loss Prevention Associate Steven Uliano. Walmart Loss Prevention advised there was W/F at the customer service counter attempting to make a return using the Florida identification card of Tiffany Marie Arnold. I conducted a PRPD records check through dispatch, which confirmed Tiffany had been issued a trespass warning from the property on March 29, 2018.
Scenes from a Corner Store present the topic of adaption of immigrants into Canada with the Bak family, who encompass the ideology that the next generations of their daughters will deviate from cultural tradition. In terms of assimilation, the family interacts heavily with only Koreans, such as the dinner that Mr Bak and his wife attend for Store Owners every month. At these dinners, the most popular conversation is the condition of their children’s marriage and who they should marry indicating an importance of marriage when an individual is of age. Moreover, there is a huge importance on endogamy with a taboo on exogamy. This importance on endogamy lead to Carolyn concealing her boyfriend Rob from her parents for so long. This is indicated
Bang! Crack! Screech! Pop! These are the sounds that interrupted me from playing with my cousin. My mind raced to see what exactly had happened. I run out of the house and to the courtyard. My cousins want me to come back in, they said zombies were walking the streets and that the government sent troops to kill them. I denied it, so I ran out to the street to see what happened. My heart pounded and my stomach grew anxious as the aroma of bacon and engine oil filled the air. As I grew closer to the scene, men shed blood from their eyes alike the woman. As I walked closer and cut through the crowd, a cold and simple wind had ripped the thoughts out of my head. It was a grieving mother over her son's body. His body fresh and mutilated from the crash. Shattered ribs and guts exposed. His head had exploded and his
I wake up in the morning and I can feel the bracelet sliding down my arm as I get up. The bracelet feels warmer than usual, this maybe because my arms are covered with blankets that make it warm during the night. When I wake up in the morning my bracelet has no distinct smell…but when I am getting ready I put perfume on that lingers on to the bracelet throughout the day. So it smells fruity almost like fresh berries that you would smell as you walk through the produce section of the grocery store. But a good smell, fresh and fruity.
The building was a mile long, at the other end was Navistar. Both companies are in the same building, Navistar builds some of the parts for Freightcar America. As I walk inside we have to wait on the safety guy name Michael Hallman. He explain that we’ll get a batch sometime to today in order get in the gate outside and inside. We follow Michael inside the plant, he gave us a tour of the job site of what we’ll be doing. I came across a heavy big metal train up in the air hosted by an overhead crane, while the train is moving this loud alarm going off letting everybody know the train is in the air.
Increased Visibility of a particular brand on the shelf increases their success rate. Therefore many of the major stores are promoting their own brands by giving them a larger shelf space which is bigger then their market share. This reduces the visibility of other branded products at the same time.
As I lay there stuck I hear the sirens coming from down the road. “What happened” I asked myself. “Are my friends ok” my head started to spin. “BEEEEEEEEEP” I wake up laying in a small hospital bed, what is that noise. As I turn my head to the right I see my friend Maddie laying their hooked up to a lot of machines. The beeping wouldn't stop everyone was panicking before anyone even realized I was awake Maddie was rushed out of the room.
The social norms of the mall food court were examined and studied for the purpose of this research study. In order to understand the intention for my research— social norms can be defined as “social standards of behavior and/or thought that (a) indicate what people should or should not do or think under some circumstances and (b) are at least in part enforced upon individuals by external pressure” (Dequech 2006: 473). My interest in this study was to analyze whether the demographics associated with norms coerced the way people interact with family and friends and to what extent of social control is there. Furthermore, I wanted to investigate what the specific norms of the mall food court were and point out acts of deviance, which can be formally defined as, “nonconformity to a set of norms that are accepted by a significant number of people in a community or society” (Appelbaum, Carr, Duneier, Giddens 2009: 173). Essentially, the way people act was based on the public location, essentially, the social norms that were followed are influenced by the location and the people around them. Subsequently, it can be summarized as followed: “They regard a social norm as a rule governing an individual 's behavior that third parties other than state agents diffusely enforce by means of social sanctions. A person who violates a norm risks becoming the target of punishment..." (Ellickson 2001: 3). This specific topic was important for me to analyze because normally I do not spend long periods of time at the mall court. I usually purchase what I need and leave quickly after, it is very rare that I take my time to shop, sit down, and rest in the food court and grab something to eat. For that reason, I was motivated to see how norms played out in ...
At 9:55pm I scaled the building and reached the window. I saw the crown put in the lock safe. Then the Queen left. I opened the window with a circle glass cutter. I got in and typed in the code and saw the crown. Then a bell started ringing. You could hear the sound so loud. Ding Dong. My ears start to have this intense pain because my left eardrum was hurt. I tried to think what was happening. People came in and picked me up and then everything went black…
It was late I thought. Almost midnight yet I was still unable to sleep. I stared thoughtlessly at the moving shadows mumbling to myself, "it was just a story" but in my heart I knew it wasn't, it was more than a story, much, much more. Then, a crow appeared in the middle of my room. The crow stared at me with such intensity that I fell backwards into the safety of my pillow. I stared at the crow in shock as it disappeared into my closet and that's when I heard it, a long piercing whine that was like a nail to a chalkboard. I prayed that it would go away, I prayed with all my heart but it stayed there continuing its long whine. It was then when I caught a glimpse of it. I saw two glowing bloodshot eyes stare at me. I let out a scream born from terror and almost immediately my dad came bursting into my room. He stared at me with confusion but all I could do was point a shaking finger at my closet door. Cautiously, my father marched into the closet door only to find nothing inside. Then, without warning, the closet door slammed shut along with my father still inside.
I had spent the night at a friend’s house and I couldn’t sleep so I called my mom to come get me and bring me home. On our way home I talked to her about how I wasn’t comfortable sleeping away from home and how it scared me. When we got home I rushed to the door because my grandma and my little sister Alyssa were waiting for me. As I opened the front door I could hear screaming and voices I had never heard before. My heart started racing and I couldn’t think about anything but that I wanted to see what was going on. I shoved the front door open and my mom rushed to be behind me. As we walked into the house I was my grandmother screaming at someone and hiding my little sister behind her. Alyssa looked terrified like she was being attacked. My mom
I go lay on the couch feeling like shit, my intentions. My temperature fluctuates, my hands start to shake, I’m sweating, everyone's walking by me in slow motion. I feel something graze my arm and then a type grip. I turn my head so sharp I black out for a couple seconds. It’s a girl she is looking at me… Then she begins to move her mouth, “ I can help you ”, she says, “follow me if you want it all to go away”. I follow her into the bathroom upstairs where there is two other girls that look like zombies, They’re sticking something in their arms.
There are a number of reasons why people shop at malls. For one thing, people malls extremely convenient. In addition malls provide shoppers with a great variety of stores and shopping opportunities. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, malls are great places for entertainment.
Shopping malls have become meeting places, similar to town halls in the old west. Malls are where people go to explore and experience everything retailers have to offer while indulging in their own personal sport of acquiring different products. The question of what malls bring to society has been questioned for years do they promote rapid consumerism or a life of luxury. Victor Gruen, the inventor of shopping malls, saw these centers as a source of community similar to his homeland in Europe. Most malls represent a safe and controlled nature of human development and leisure. In the following article, I will be discussing the security preventions that shopping malls of today provide. I will also be discussing the enhancements in structures
