Mathematics and Physics

Having thoroughly enjoyed A level Mathematics and Physics, I would like to further my studies with a degree course that combines these subjects. My Further Mathematics at A level course has helped me develop the confidence to tackle more chalalaging questions analytically. Whilst A level Chemistry and Computing have increases my basic knowledge in related subjects and will definitely assist me in future studies.

I am currently interested in Electrical and Electronic Engineering which I have pursued through my work experience in London. During the summer I did work experience with The Cellular Investment Company. The company is one of the most successful firms working in the field of mobile communications in Africa, Far-East and South America. This was a valuable experience for the course at University.

Both my parent are science/engineering professionals and they taught me some of the qualities needed for a degree course in the field of electric and electronic engineering. This has encouraged me to find out the opportunities available.

Outside college, I am a very keen mathematician and have been awarded 2 gold and a silver awards in the last three consecutive UK National Maths Challenge, which is an annual event organised by the Leeds University.

I have been a Millennium Volunteer for the last 8 months and I am currently volunteering at Rathbone, at the Merrion Centre in Leeds. I send 2-4 hours every Tuesday and Wednesday helping people from all over Leeds to achieve all sorts of computing experience from GNVQ's to New Deal Diploma's.

Essay about Aristotle's Influences on Biology - Science has taken huge steps to get to where it is today. Throughout the ages biology has developed from focusing on medicine and natural history, to great scientific advantages such as the theory of evolution, classifying living organisms and decoding every strand of DNA in the human body. Biology is the study of life, and all living organisms. The first known biologists were Hippocrates of Kas and Galen of Pergamum, who helped with the understanding of anatomy and physiology. The Progression of Mathematics in School Essay - The educational system grooms children to be productive members of society. First coined in the days of one-room schoolhouses, the phrase “reading, writing, and ‘rithmetic” has become a common mantra of education. The third of these three r’s is mathematics, an infamous subject. It is incumbent in many professions, from accountants and doctors to physicists and teachers. Both hated and adored by many, math is complex, essential, and encompasses hundreds of topics. These topics can be sorted into four basics categories: elementary math, algebra, physics, and calculus....   [tags: Arithmetic, Algebra, Physics, Calculus] 850 words

Exploring Quantum Physics Essay - There are many different types of science in today's society. A few of these sciences include biology, chemistry, and physics. There are subjects within these subjects, also. One of these subjects is known as quantum physics. “Quantum physics is the theory that underlies nearly all our current understanding of the physical universe” (Rae xi). Without quantum physics, which will be referred to as quantum mechanics, and a few important quantum physicists, such as Max Planck, Niels Bohr, Erwin Schrödinger, Werner Heisenberg, and Albert Einstein, especially, many, if not all, things in the physical universe would not be understood. Max Planck was one of the founders of quantum mechanics....   [tags: Quantum Physics Essays]

Physics of Music Essay example - "He who understands nothing but chemistry does not truly understand chemistry either" Georg Christoph Lichtenberg (1742-1799) Music is not purely a form of art. There is a great deal of science that goes behind the production of beautiful musical sounds. In order to understand how music is possible, one must have an understanding of physics. Physics allows us to create musical instruments with different tone qualities and the ability to be played in a certain way to produce a specific pitch or note....   [tags: physics music sound] 866 words
