Christian Teachings About Racism
In a discussion about racism Christians will often refer to the bible
and the teachings of Jesus:
They may refer to the laws of Moses:
'Do not ill-treat foreigners living in your land. Treat them as you
would a fellow Israelite' (Leviticus 19:33-34)
This is saying if a person not from your country you should treat them
the same as some one who is. Christians would say that this tells us
everyone should be treated equally even if they do not come from your
country.
'Do not deprive foreigners of their rights…remember that you were once
foreigners in Egypt' (Deuteronomy 24:17)
In modern day life Christians would refer to this as saying when
someone from another country comes to yours treat them like everyone
else. We are all foreigners when we go to other countries and we
except to be treated the same.
'You are all one person in Christ' (Colossians 3:11)
Christians would use this in a discussion about racism by saying that
we are all one person in Christ and God sees us all the same. There is
no superior race to God we are all equal.
They may also refer to what God thinks about us:
'…The same rules are binding on you and the foreigners among you. You
and they are alike in the lords sight' (Numbers 15:15)
They would say that this means that the rules are the same for
everyone, whatever your race. Just because someone is a different
colour or culture to yours doesn't mean you should have advantages
over them.
'…It is true that God treats everyone on the same basis…no matter what
race they belong to' (Numbers 15:15)
Christians would use this to get the point across that God treats
everyone the same, no matter what colour or culture they are.
Christians will also talk about how every one was created by God and
how he created all races
'From one human being he created all races' (Acts 17:26)
This refers to God making all races from one human being because god
naked and drunken state and therefore mocks him. This action of Ham anger God and thus, God

Just how class and gender played a big part in the Bible, that’s the way things tend to work now in modern day. In some cases, people have been punished and even killed for being the wrong gender and/ or race. The next few cases are going to be about the role that discrimination played in the punishment/ killings that people have faced in the modern day. One case is about a man who walked into a church and shot and killed nine innocent black Christians. This shooting was done in Charleston South Carolina. The shooter was a white Male by the name of Dylann Roof. He not only killed people that were Christians, but he killed people who were African American. The news made it seem that he specifically went after African American Christians.

The story of Peekay in The Power of One is something everyone can carry with them throughout their lives. Peekay goes through many ups and downs that many people can relate to throughout the span of the novel. He faces bullies, racism, inequality, and many problems we still have to face today, decades later.
Racism is a theme seen throughout all history. Not just one group has been affected by it in one way or another, but many groups if not all have experienced it. In the following we will explore racism in history.
Racism is the mistreatment of a group of people on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, place of origin, or ancestry. The term racism may also denote a blind and unreasoning hatred, envy, or prejudice (Dimensions of Racism). Racism has had a strong effect on society. Despite the many efforts made to alleviate racism, what is the future of African Americans' Racism's long history, important leaders, current status, and future outlook will be the main factors in determining how to combat racism. Racism is still present in many societies, although many people are doing their best to put an end to racism and its somewhat tragic ordeals.
The Development of Racism Slavery's twin legacies to the present are the social and economic inferiority it conferred upon blacks and the cultural racism it instilled in whites. Both continue to haunt our society. Therefore, treating slavery's enduring legacy is necessarily controversial. Unlike slavery, racism is not over yet. Loewen 143.
Racism: a Short History George Fredrickson makes an argument ultimately against the dichotomy between civilization and savagery, specifically the resurgence of ethnoreligious bigotry that, according to him, replaces 20th century race theory in order to justify continued inequities and sociopolitical oppression worldwide in Racism: A Brief History. His book delineates the rise of modern race theory, beginning in Medieval Europe and synthesizing an explanation for the existence and success of the overtly racist regimes, the United States, South Africa, and Nazi Germany. Fredrickson cautions, however, that racism can easily become interchangeable with religious bigotry when facing corporatism that aims to alienate, marginalize, and devalue human beings as mere consumers with little agency or any collective sense of identity. Racism's ultimate goal, according to Fredrickson, is to establish a permanent hierarchal order that "has two components: difference and power." Fredrickson's analysis is probably one of the most direct and functional definitions of racism that I have run across in a while.
Racism has always been issues within the African American community. My grand parents on both side, mother and father grew up in a harsh time for African American. They experience racism and discrimination at a very young age. My grandmother mother I know little about, and my grandmother do not speak much of him. My grandmother on my mother side does not speak much of father either. My grandmother on my mother side gave birth to 4 children. My grandmother had great qualities about herself, but my mother was not raised in the best environment. My grandmother has never been married. My grandmother was an alcohol who depended on the welfare system to help raise and take care of her children. My grandmother has a 8 grade education. My grandmother had a sister who she was very close to, as a matter fact they stayed next door to each other.
Racism appears everywhere and is playing an enormous role in society, not only to the Hispanics, but also to the African Americans. In fact, Being Latino in American society can be challenging there are many stereotypes that are said about Latinos. Not only do politicians give Latinos immigrants a bad name, but they also attempt to debase immigrants. From living in a Caucasian neighborhood, and going to a high school with five percent Hispanic. Politicians giving Hispanics a bad name, I know firsthand experience does not only affects me but everyone. Racism is an issue that was introduced to our environment through Cultural beliefs.

Racism is an issue that has affected this country since the beginning of time, whether it was the Native Americans, Blacks, Chinese, Japanese, or Muslims. There are many different reasons for all, but the people who are affected have suffered regardless. The one that’s been in mainstream media and have recently received the most hatred is Muslims. It started in 2001, with Al-Qaeda and spread with ISIS over the years. It has affected the Muslim community and my own family both emotional and physically.
The development of Black Theology in the United was one that shocked the nation as a whole. While in slavery, Blacks had to sneak and hold church services. This was partly because Whites felt that Blacks were not able to be accepted into heaven, and they believed that once one as a Christian they could no longer be enslaved. So to appease their conscience they would not allow Blacks to take part in theology. Due to these issues Black Theology soon originated within the United States.
Racism is a topic that several do not like to discuss due many different scenarios. People, cultures, and beliefs have been torture¬d from past events. Individuals, young and old, within today’s society have experienced racism in some shape or form. The subject of racism is something that people view differently. There are some who view it as okay, and those who are against it. The beginning of racism began during the time of the ancient civilizations which lead to events that caused short term effects such as the depression of those hurt by the September 11, 2001 attacks, and long term effects like Jewish mistreatment. The explanation of while different events happened are hard to come about, although an idea of the reasoning comes down to scientific racism.
