A Young Person's Guide to Work Experience Work experience is an exiting time in the school year. It is great fun when you are there but before it can be a mix between excitement and being very nervous. Not knowing what to expect here is some helpful information to help you prepare for your work experience. When looking for your work experience placement, don't look for something that doesn't interest you at all. Attempt to and find something that you enjoy or a job that you may wish to do in the future. You should try your hardest to get a self-found placement to ensure you get a job that you are at least interested in. To get a self-found placement, look up all the companies that you feel you may be interested in and phone them until you find an organisation that say they will accept you for work experience and one that sounds suitable for you. Also if you find yourself a placement it shows both the school and your employer that you can be a responsible and independent person and leaves a good first impression. The worst thing in which you could do would be to leave the organisation of your placement to the last minute. You will then be left with the jobs that no one else wanted and be forced to take one which could therefore lead to be one of the most boring and uninteresting week of your life. If you have contacted an employer about a placement and they have said they will get back to you always make sure you have a back-up placement just in the chance they don't get back to you and you are then left with no placement when it comes to the week of work experience. To prepare for your work experience once you have a placement is very simple. All you have to do is make sure the school has given you the information on the clothing to wear, what hours you have to work and where to get your lunch.

Receiving my first job was a huge milestone in life, as it is for any teen. The feeling was equivalent to learning how to tie a shoe and being picked first for kickball. It was basically a moment where I truly became aware that I was growing up, that “this was it” I was finally going to cut the ties and become my own provider. To prove myself and others, that I can handle the so called “Real World”. However, upon entering my first job, most teenagers were unaware the of the reasonability that came with it. It was pretty much treated like a last period class, “if you show up you pass” kind of deal. When in actuality, it was much more. Working as a ride operator at a local amusement park, Lake Winnie, many would assume that it would be the easiest
We all want our first job when were in high school and to some of us it makes us feel more independent. Who wouldn’t want to stop relying on their parents for money? We all hate that moment when we want to go out with our friends but were too scared to ask our parents for money because you asked them for money couple days ago. But then again, were scared to apply for a job because some of us are scared for the interview we might get or you’re just scared to get a job. Although getting your first job can be a hard and new experience, it is a very important lesson in life of showing dependability and growing up.
On the 25th of December 2014, in Taupo, I had volunteered to work at a homeless shelter. While I was there I had got told the procedures on what I was going to do on the job. My duties while working there was, cleaning, cooking, and serving. The idea of the homeless shelter is to meet, feed, and welcome other people that are less fortunate than us on Christmas.

Developing your ability to work with adults as part of a team is a key
In the competitive world today, having a college degree might not benefit a student as much as before, thus opening up numerous questions concerning its necessity. Not only is the number of students desperately trying to enroll in college increasing, but the tuition shoots up as well. However, will college enrollment necessarily be enough to increase your chances of attaining job security? The answer is hotly debated amongst adults and students alike, which opens up the second option for students, that is, joining the work force. Although this option is generally shunned by the new generation, the tough economy and slow restoration makes it quite a desirable choice at the moment. Joining the work force is a hard decision to make as it might be looked down upon in today's standards, however, Marty Nemko, a career expert and author of "How to Do Life: What They Didn't Teach You in School." suggests that " ' for individuals making a decision about what's right for them, it needs to be a very individualized choice' " (Loose). Thus it's important for individuals to pick what's the best for them despite the mainstream negative interpretation of joining the work force. I firmly believe that the "best" for students today is to join the work force immediately after high school because it avoids the high tuition costs for college, as well as, letting students develop practical work experience.

You had better know what you want to do when you get older and you better like it because that is what you will be doing for the rest of your life. However, most of the jobs today needs at least 2-4 years of schooling. I want to be a lawyer. A lawyer will almost always get paid a lot to represent someone or some business. All a lawyer has to do is argue for their client and make them sound good and help them out in legal cases. Also, the lawyer gets to tell their client how much they want to be paid. I think that a lawyering job would be good for me because I love to argue, persuade people, and help people. There are few careers that the general public has the most misconceptions about and lawyers are one of the most common.
