Since safety is one of the main top buying consideration for customers, significant inventions which improve the safety of cars plays a huge role in bringing up the sales for each car manufacturers. Many car makers compete to create cars with high level of safety, meeting the demand of the motoring public.
German automobile manufacturing company BMW’s current productions feature several new technologies such as the Active Blind Spot Detection in their 7 series flagship (2009 models). A lot of cars on the road these days have blind spot monitoring systems, in which the visual warnings will be displayed on the side mirrors to let the driver know about the car approaching from the blind spot.
What makes BMW’s Active Blind Spot Detection system outstand the other car in the showroom is that its steering wheel vibrates to warn the drivers when they are trying to change lanes without noticing the warning on the side mirror.
One of the technology that are current being develop is the cars that can communicate with each other. This is indeed, a huge thing to create and develop as it does not only involve one car manufacturing, but it involves every other car on the road. Of course, it would require many modifications (Not to talk about the idea of creating a ‘maglev cars’ which will use electromagnetic force to levitate and move the car would require changing the whole road system!) as it involves all vehicles in the road. Ford Auto Company and the US government have been working on this project. First is the Vehicle-to-Vehicle communication (V2V). This would allow cars to communicate with each other through wireless radio signals to share information between cars regarding their location, speed and direction. When cars communicate ...

The Automotive, or electric car industry particularly, comprises all those companies and activities involved in the manufacture of electric motor vehicles (EV), including most components, such as engines, bodies and rechargeable batteries or another energy storage device. The industry’s principal products are passenger automobiles. Despite the fact that the first electric cars were produced in 1880s , the advances in internal combustion engines, especially the electric starter, soon diminished the relative advantages of the electric car and became the dominant design in the market. Due to this the EV was almost a forgotten industry staying in the early stage of development, conforming to less than 1% of the automotive stock
Technologies in European cars provide safety features which surpass these in American cars. Technologies like these make European cars more attractive to car buyers. One such feature includes night vision capabilities. Night vision eliminates crashing into unseen things such as pedestrians and animals, when vision is decreased at night. “Before the advent of night vision-equipped cars, spotting wayward pylons and debris was the task of an eagle-eyed front passenger. Now, thanks to advances in thermal imaging and infrared radiation, your car may be able to spot trouble in the way before you even detect it” (http://www.nydailynews.com/autos/7-car-safety-features-knew-needed-article-1.1417688). The importance of safety within cars is a growing desire among all car buyers, which is why the creation of night vision capability is an important feature to European cars.
...and it may be helpful, but the analysis has not revealed it yet. A speed and curve warning is a different system that uses someone’s GPS. The current GPS system might offer a warning feature if someone will go over the speed limit. More significant examples of GPS based automobile technology are just around the turn. Already being tested in different countries that Europe is the built-in Intelligent Speed Adaptation, which subjects speeding alerts and can also make it harder to press further down on the accelerator or it can even automatically stop the automobile. Taking curves too careless, another common cause of accidents is also the focus of warning device research and field testing. Such a device would warn someone to slow down when a sharp curve coming before it is too late. It is another request of GPS technology that could improve the safety of the driver.
Teens need to be taught that driving is a task that is complex and demanding. Parents know how much experience a young driver has, and they know exactly how inconvenient it is when they have to drive with their teen everywhere while they have their permit. Teens tend to cause most traffic accidents in adults’ eyes. They are not experienced yet, and often fail to pay attention to others on the road. They often think of a car as being some type of toy, but they do not know how powerful it really is. The driver education programs must be strengthened in order to make sure that students really have safer habits, behind the wheel experience, and by having a better understanding of all the laws on the road.
Being a member of the future generation of innovators and leaders, I feel that this research combined with my fascination of automobiles could lead to a clearer understanding of how I can help improve the automobile. In a world that is highly connected by roads, if the problem of using petroleum-based fuels is not solved, the entire gas-guzzling world could come to a standstill. This apocalyptic halt would cease all travel and we would be thrown back to a more primitive standing. However, if we research and find an alternative ahead of time, we would be able to transiti...
Audi, one of Germany’s first automobile producers, has been designing and building cars since August Horch, its founder, completed his first car in 1901. Over the years following, a series of innovations and mergers have led Audi to the position it is in today. Audi’s subsidiaries include companies to facilitate international operations, part manufacturers, a vehicle customization company, a technology research company, and Lamborghini Corp, a successful sports car manufacturer. Audi’s current developments include its holding the EU Seal of Environmental Protection, and a number of technological advancements, including new car designs and a “seeing car” technology that has been nominated for the German Future award for Technology and Innovation.
In 2010, automaker Toyota was faced with one of the biggest threats to its brand, the safety of its vehicles. Toyota failed miserably in its response to the safety issues due to a few major management issues.
Another strategy used by BMW to differentiate itself from other automakers in the market is the proactive usage of technology and innovativeness in the development of products. From the early 1990’s, BMW has been on the forefront of incorporating technology in its designs in line with the technological advances of the modern world. This has led to the creation of inventive products. The uniqueness of these auto products put BMW in a position of advantage. The development of the hydrogen car as early as 2000 was an indicator of the company’s innovative strategy. In addition, the company also presents itself as environment friendly creating a whole range of vehicles in this category. This is a differentiation strategy meant to boost the company’s image and reputation amongst customers. In addition, this gives the environment conscious customers a variety of products to choose from giving BMW an upper hand in the industry.
As a result of the increased demand of cars, the competition among car companies is becoming intense. Although the market of car is the biggest growing market in the world, there are still some companies who make cars failing year after year. However, there are some outstanding car companies such as The BMW Group performing distinctly.
These technologies have made driving an easier and enjoyable experience, as well as reducing our chances of getting into accidents. The research presented in the following article “Driven to Distraction [in car technology]” provided surprising conclusions. Professor John D. Lee from the University of Iowa states the following issue: “Technology is changing very quickly. Many of these things coming into the car were not designed to be used in it. ”(Edwards 8).
Even though vehicle to vehicle communication has the potential to be a totally transformative technology with widespread benefits, we do not recommend investing in the V2V market now. The initial capital costs are too high, the return on investment for early adopters is expected to be too low, and the current players are entrenched behemoths. We think that it will be difficult or impossible to gain enough market share to compete with manufacturers that are directly integrating solutions into their own vehicles. Another issue with investing now is the lack of public understanding for V2V, specifically regarding safety and privacy. It may be better to wait to enter the market until the public better understands the systems and the benefits they bring.
The fact that driverless car sensors can detect the errors of other human-driven cars is extraordinary. Human driven cars are trying to stick to the status quo of the roads when in reality human driven cars are breaking valuable innovation that will make the roads safer for generations to come.

The fast population growth rate of humans means that the necessity for transportation vehicles is also enormously increasing. Studies have shown that in 1999 the worldwide number of vehicles registered was 700 million. From this huge number of vehicles, the US has a large share, which includes 200 million cars and light trucks. The number of cars worldwide also grew three times faster
