Odonata The damselfly species is part of an insect group called Odonata. Odonata consists of dragonflies, which are the suborder Anisoptera, and damselflies, which are the suborder Zygoptera. The insect group Odonata is very small, probably containing only about 5,000 living species (Corbet, 1999). Odonata, typically called Odonates, are usually found close to bodies of water, looking for small insects to eat. Adult Odonates catch their prey while in flight, while younger Odonates, called
status. 1.5 Significance of this study Odonata is one of the bio indicators of the environment that show us which one of the habitat that contain the good environment. By studying the temporal changes in Odonata community, it gives information about the health of ecosystem. Moreover, this study also gives information relationship the Odonata community and factors that influence it. Thus, helping in monitoring and managing the environment and conservation of Odonata community. 1.6 Objective of this study
Chapter 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Background of study Diversity concept can be defined by refers to variety of living organisms in a particular area (Statistica, 2013). Since diversity involves many living organisms and include different species, thus it may be very complex. There are two significant divisions within the scope of diversity which are species diversity and habitat diversity (Mumby, 2001). Both represent structural complexity of environments. In order to reduce complexity of ecological
Adult Mayflies and Shadflies have wings, chewing mouthparts (which they don't use, because they die before they feed as adults -- usually within one day), small antennae, and two or three long tails. Larvae can live as long as four years. Order Odonata is part of the large subclass Pterygota and include Dragonflies As you should know they have long thin bodies, two pairs of long narrow wings, and very large eyes.
