Memories of first love, adolescent friendships, late night parties with your gang of friends are some of the most treasured moments of teen/youth life. Important events like travelling abroad, receiving your first paycheck, wedding day, buying a house, giving birth to a child, adopting a pet are some of the memorable moments of adult life. Winning an award, reaching a coveted milestone, and blissful moments of family life are a few other memorable moments in one’s life.

    According to cognitive neuroscience aka the study of memory, we use selective memory technique to remember only good moments of our life. Sometimes we even distort our memories to make them align with our current state of mind. For example: An event of panic/sadness from the past becomes a funny memory as it seems insignificant and silly from where you are in life.
