“Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp,” one of the many stories included in Aladdin and Other Favorite Arabian Nights Stories, inspired Walt Disney Feature Animation’s 1992 classic Aladdin. Because both of these works are geared towards children, they were adapted from Scheherazade’s original version in A Thousand and One Nights. Even though Disney’s Aladdin and “Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp” tell their own version of Scheherazade’s story, they still hold true to her story and CONVEY the same morals
My Experience With Seeing "Miss Saigon" On the 26th January I went to the Empire Theatre in Sunderland to watch a production of Miss Saigon. To be honest, when I first read an outline of the story, I imagined it to be quite a dull experience. However, I thoroughly enjoyed this production, and the musical score was amazing. A musical I have seen that could be compared to “Miss Saigon” is “Les Miserables” as they are both set pre, during and post-war and both have quite a sad story.

“What’s your story?” “Why are you here?” “What happened?” “What have you learned from this class?” “What kind of impact will you have on your society?” These are just a few of the questions Professor Conti made me think about as we stepped into the final weeks of our semester. From that moment on, I knew that within this semester Professor Conti stepped away from the stereotypical classroom. He cares about his students and rather than relying on textbook material; he used their words and experiences
Popular culture has given people the opportunity for people to have a chance to shine, and many have had their lives changed. For example, when American Idol had launched in 2002, the winner, Kelly Clarkson, had her chance to shine for the entire time she was competing and eventually won the competition. Her success provided her with the ability perform not only nationwide, but also worldwide. But how exactly does popular culture enable Filipino Americans to have a chance at success? In order to
When the Creature was first created he was childlike. He had to learn how to walk, talk and how to understand others. He wanted to explore and experience life, but as soon as he went out to view the world, he instantly got rejected. His loneliness grew due to the lack of interaction with other. He began to say things like “Satan had his companions, fellow devils, to admire and encourage, but I am solitary and abhorred .” (Pg. 118) as well as “But it was all a dream; no Eve soothed my sorrows, nor
went on a ghost tour around the city, which I found really interesting, even though Casey was a bit freaked out. The next night, we saw a performance at the Cincinnati Music Hall and, after the performance as we were waiting to meet the singer, Lea Salonga, I went ghost hunting with Long, Calvin, Olivia, and Mikala. We had learned that the building was supposedly haunted the previous night during our ghost tour and that night, we actually saw a ghost! Long recorded it on his camera, so we have proof
