On February 6th, I visited the infant room at Day Nursery Ruth A. Lilly Center and completed the ITERS observation one. Being my first experience doing the ITERS evaluation, I thought that it was going to be a little difficult to us. However, I was surprised to find out how it was very strait forward and the notes for clarification left no room for misunderstanding. While I was doing the ITERS evaluation at the Day Nursery, I noticed things I like about the program, things I did not like, and felt
the center. The ITERS helped me to analyze what the daycare’s strengths and weaknesses are, and I found several weaknesses. If I were to enter the daycare to assess the environment without the ITERS tool, I would likely find it acceptable. However, when I have a checklist in front of me listing specific things to look for, I find that the environment needs a lot of improvements. The ITERS tool was easy to use and seemed to be straightforward. I was able to get familiar with the ITERS before entering
energy, by emitting radiation. A material that radioactively decays is considered to be a radioactive material. ITER ITER, Latin for ‘The Way’ and an acronym of International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor, is a research and engineering project that is internationally run, and involves building the world’s largest nuclear fusion reactor. The seven member parties involved in the ITER project are the European Union (EU), India, Japan, China, Russia, South Korea and the United States, with the EU
to understand the function and quality of an infant/toddler program and classroom setting, we were asked to evaluate an infant/toddler setting using the Infant/Toddler Environmental Rating Scale. Like the PAS evaluation, the ITERS helps us to evaluate quality. However the ITERS also helps to evaluate the quality within a classroom and allows us to determine areas that provide high quality and areas that may need improvement. Below is my reflection on my evaluation of the 2 year old program/room I have
“The release of atomic energy has not created a new problem. It has merely made more urgent the necessity of solving an existing one.” (Albert Einstein). This problem consists of the ever rising energy demand worldwide, which is directly proportional to the steady increase of the world’s population (See figure 1 in the appendices). This increase resulted in an accelerated depletion of the resources of fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas (See figure 2). For centuries, fossil fuel was,
Practicing ITERS-R In this paper I will discuss the pros and cons of an infant and toddler environment. The environment was observed and scored using the infant and toddler environment rating scale score sheet. One particular section was observed, which was the space and furnishings. The overall score for the classroom scored great. Although I noticed, certain areas couldn’t be observed in just one day. In my opinion the scale should be observed at least twice, to see if the observer will receive
thing we get from doing these assessments is the scores are letting us know what is happening in the classroom, because it can help us improve the quality of care given to the infants and toddlers. There have been revisions made to ITERS which is why it’s known as ITERS-R. They are now able to answer some questions with yes or no and even NA. By making changes like this we are able to be more
The Case for Nuclear Fusion As of now, 80% of global energy is provided by fossil fuels. Wind and solar energy sources are unlikely to completely replace fossil fuels in the coming decades due to infrastructure problems. A drop in global energy provided by oil starting sometime between 2012 and 2014 (Chris) is also expected. As a result of these circumstances more research must be done in other forms of energy generation in order to keep with energy demand as countries industrialize and populations
The Infant and Toddler Rating Scale is just one of the four scales that share the same format and use a scoring system. All the scales have different requirements because they assess different age groups and different settings. These tests are checking on the organization of space, interactions, activities, schedules and provisions of staff and parents. This scale is specifically set up for children from birth to 30 months of age; this group is most vulnerable physically, emotionally and mentally
In 1095, Pope Urban II called the first crusade. Happening between 1096 and 1099, the first crusade was both a military expedition and a mass movement of people with the simple goal of reclaiming the Holy Lands taken by the Muslims in their conquests of the Levant. The crusade ended with the capture of Jerusalem in July 1099. However, there has been much debate about whether the First Crusade can be considered an ‘armed pilgrimage’ or whether it has to be considered as a holy war. This view is complicated
in Iron Man a very interesting design. It is shaped like a tomahawk for a special reason. Tony Stark has the Iron Man mini Arc Reactor and the Stark Industries Arc Reactor that is larger. There is a reactor based off of the large Arc Reactor named ITER, but there is nothing about the mini Arc Reactor. The Arc Reactor has a pallad...
Nuclear Fusion: the Premier Solution to Climate Change The search for a viable source of renewable energy is a centuries old affair. For the entirety of that time, the research has been met with opposition from both a political and economic standpoint. To present renowned scientific evidence of its existence and impact was to invite accusations of fabrication. To simply state, as former United States Vice President Al Gore famously put it, “[the] inconvenient truth” that a culture of consumption
Nuclear energy is an alternative to using fossil fuels. Although nuclear energy is also nonrenewable, it has a much lower amount of air pollution, as well as a lower risk of affecting the climate through global warming. There are three main kinds of nuclear energy, nuclear fusion, nuclear fission, and radioactive decay. This report will explain how nuclear fusion works, as well as explaining the advantages and disadvantages of nuclear fusion. Nuclear fusion occurs when two or more elements
Brainstem is a part of human brain connects the cerebrum with the spinal cord .it has many functions such as : it control autonomic functions of the peripheral nervous system that happen if the human wake up or sleepy ,control several important functions of the body through sending signals and messages from brain to the human body this functions like alertness ,blood pressure ,breathing ,digestion, swallowing , coughing, vomiting and heart rate. brainstem contain most of the cranial nerves (nerves
Religions and beliefs can also be harmful to people when they are not questioned, especially those who have been lingering around for centuries. As mentioned before, one of the reasons religions exist is to try to make sense of the world. In “The lottery” a ritual is supposed to bring a great harvest to the people of the village so that food overflows, as Old Man Warner tells “Used to be a saying about 'Lottery in June, corn be heavy soon. '” (286). The village, however, instead of putting some
Memory is a marvelous aspect of who we are as human beings. It can produce delight, warning, affection, thought, sentimentality, and feelings of commitment. When memory is invoked, we are called to attention. The past becomes present and we become present to events in the past in a way that pushes us into the future. Memory is the way past events and commitments “live” for us and continue to touch us in a very real way. Our most significant memories are shaped by who we are and what is important
Mankind is always advancing its’ technology. The arc reactor technology is a vital part of the Iron Man story because it not only keeps Tony Stark alive but also provides power to his suit. “The most similar device that has been made is the ITER fusion reactor which mashes isotopes together to make atoms which then can be used to create energy” (Quora). The energy the reactor makes is then used to power Mr. Stark’s greatest weapon, the iron man suit. The iron man suit is the tool that Tony Stark
Putting Children First: A Discourse Community Analysis of a Daycare At Children’s First, our mission is to keep a safe, healthy, prosperous environment for children. Being a part of this community, I know firsthand what it takes to maintain an ideal setting for children to grow. It is essential for the caretakers to communicate, share information, and work together to put the children first. This core goal of ours, along with my own experience, analysis, interviewing, and observation demonstrate
Banquo - The Innocent of Macbeth The reader finds in Shakespeare's Macbeth that the cunning and machinations of evilly inclined people do not pay off. On the other hand, the progeny of the honest will rule the kingdom. This paper is the story of Banquo the innocent. Lily B. Campbell in her volume of criticism, Shakespeare's Tragic Heroes: Slaves of Passion, discusses how fear enters the life of Banquo with the murder of Duncan and his two attendants: And as Lady Macbeth is helped
