Team Mission Statement: (x) Nicolet FEAR, Team 4786, is a FIRST Robotics Team in Glendale, Wisconsin. Our mission statement says, “We are determined to create a path to success by polishing our strengths and overcoming our weaknesses in order to integrate ourselves, schools, communities, and families in all aspects of our work.” Nicolet FEAR strives for efficiency, innovation and excellence, and our passion for science, technology, engineering and mathematics attracts numerous students every year
technology, engineering, and mathematics are seaperch, first lego league, vex, and vex IQ. For me doing SECME related things such as Vex, Vex IQ, seaperch, first lego league, ten 80, 4H, and NSBE are fun. For me they are fun because they allow me to be able to do things with my friends, be creative, and allow me to be able to experience engineering opportunities. Of all the SECME things though my favorite things are seaperch and first lego league. They allows me to stimulate my imagination and figure
In sixth grade I begged my parents to create a First Lego League Team; instead of one team they created three FLL Teams. FLL Teams compete in tournaments with preprogrammed Lego robots built by students under the guidance of high school mentors. Alongside these robots the teams must also develop a solution to a problem regarding to that year’s theme, such as smart
Step one: Why do you want to be apart of the Robotics League? The Reason is that Last time the Lego Robotics League was such an engaging process, where people can learn practical factors about problems in the world and how to solve them. Another reason is that Lego Robotics also deals with Science and Engineering, which would be great for applying for colleges and working in the field of science. Working with the robots will be very helpful, because of how the world is evolving and how technology
the Chinese Year of the Rat (the rat's Chinese characteristic is to scavenge for survival, which is also a part of my personality). From old pictures, my fragmented memories, and tales told by my grandma Mildred, I was close to my parents during my first six or seven years, especially my dad. My dad, Richard, was employed straight out of college as an Aerospace engineer with the Logicon Corporation (where he still works to day). He married my mom, Loretta, (who also became an Aerospace engineer for
I announced. As the rest of the students grudged back in with their new found friends, the girl hung back. “What’s the matter?” “Thank you!” She exclaimed as she ran up to me and hugged me, “I moved from Illinois this summer where we had an First Lego League (FLL) and FTC team. I was on the FLL team for ages and we were the best! When my parents told me I was moving to here and there is no FTC team, I was heartbroken. But now, I get to be on the big kids team! Thank you! Thank You! Thank You! You
How can STEM programs affect the poverty line and build opportunities? STEM programs in the United States are growing and the support behind them is increasing exponentially due to their benefits. STEM programs such as FIRST and PLTW have promoted STEM throughout the world and are the main programs that are available both in school and out of school. These programs provide students with life skills and and prepares them for the workforce. The STEM-related workforce has grown from 5.5% of total
homeschool well. I was a reluctant homeschooler. After exhausting all the educational alternatives either by trying them or otherwise evaluating and rejecting them, I finally gave into full-time homeschooling for my daughter's 2nd grade year. The first thing I did was to sign up for the Rio Rancho Homeschool Swim Team. That was the best thing I ever did for our homeschool for several reasons, not the least of which, was that we met other homeschooling families. At the end of the semester one of
I was able to watch first hand how each of these kids combined the values and beliefs of their original countries with the apparent Americanization. Each of them demonstrate varying dedication to their faith. Some older boys had been fasting during this month for Ramadan, while
the Gun. Rebecca Walker was inspired to write Putting Down the Gun when her eleven year old son came home from middle school and informed his mother that he wanted to play a sport. Knowing her child, the curious mother asked why her animal loving, lego building, anime reading, boy wanted to play sports. Her son’s answer was simple. “Girls like boys that play sports”. (R. Walker, pg 574) This infuriated Walker. What kind of things was her son learning in school? His answer was also very simple as
Partaking in robotics tournaments like First Lego League and VEX Robotics, I’ve taught myself languages like JavaScript and RobotC, and AutoDesk Inventor. Over time, as world-class researchers have advanced medicine to a high, I’ve realized how different fields of STEM come together to form breathtaking
My bookshelves are filled with gadgets of my interests and hobbies from past to present. On the left my shelf are my diecast cars and a model space shuttle from my childhood. I liked to spend my time playing with cars when I was a little boy. I moved them with my hands and using my imagination, I thought about different terrains and how they would move while playing them on couch, I fly my space shuttle between basketballs and tennis balls thinking about my shuttle moving between asteroids in space
Life Goals “Today, I will expand our operations beyond building robots by releasing this company’s first production car.” Loud cheers erupt as I announce this. “There are many new standards brought about by this car, including new technologies such as ETC, CHR, Tektronic, 4AWD, CVTs, UFE, and AWS. And here is the car itself!” Louder cheers erupt as the curtains are pulled back and the sleek futuristic body compels the audience to applaud. Elon Musk didn’t get as much attention when he released the
Just keep swimming: I started swimming competitively at the age of five. I started swimming for a summer league team call the Mission Valley Barracudas. Once I turned seven years old, I started swimming with the older kids, which were technically categorized as the faster kids. My coaches wanted me to swim with the older group, which consisted with junior high, and high school aged kids because swimming with my age group bracket was no longer challenging. Swimming was my favorite thing to do and
A prime example of this is in First Lego League programming competitions. Teams are required to build a robot to help solve a problem in the world. In fact, this is useful because several of the designs from past years’ competitions have gone on to become actual robots serving the community
society 's outlook on masculinity and femininity is ever changing. Labeling in this way is rather tough for me though. I was raised by my mother, with only some influences from my father, so my sense of manliness comes from a woman. Blue baby clothes, Legos, trucks and Hot Wheels were the toys of choice for me. This influence is not entirely masculine in any sense. When compared to some of my acquaintances I may be considered less masculine than some, and more than others. Growing up gender was really
