Investigating Two Local Businesses The two businesses that I have decided to investigate are Sealy Beds and Asda. I have chosen these two businesses because they are local and easily accessible, in the past either a family member or me have shopped in it. These two businesses are quite the opposite; Sealy Beds manufactures their own products and sell them to different stores. Whereas Asda buys their products off other brands and sells them in there own supermarkets. General Information

Time to Tell the True History of Texas When the Bob Bullock Texas State History museum opened in March 2001, it advertised itself as “The Story of Texas.” It still calls itself the story of Texas in letters chiseled into the top of the building, on its Web site, on signs directing visitors to the museum, and even on the refrigerator magnets you can buy in the gift shop. When I first saw the slogan, I wondered how there could be “the” story of Texas, since Texas has been culturally diverse throughout
1. When did Austin become the capital of Texas? Why do you think it was chosen as the capital over more thriving cities? Mary Austin The Land of Little Rain The Basket Maker Mary Austin's The Basket Maker is, like all her other stories in the book, a very detailed description of the western landscape and its inhabitants. But this time she focused more on a single inhabitant, an Indian woman named Seyavi. It is rather difficult to really define the plot of the story. Though the story seems to focus on Seyavi's life and experiences she is not the one who tells that story. The narrator, who is omniscient, takes
Bergstrom Air Force Base was closed. But the timing was fortuitous, because the closure came as the city of Austin, Texas was considering where to build a new airport. In 1993, the expected economic loss to Austin from the Bergstrom closure was estimated at $406 million a year and a loss of some 1000 jobs. Atmosphere of Jester Affecting Students Do you see moody students at the University of Texas walking around? They probably live in Jester, the largest public dormitory in the nation.
