Beefy, big, blimp, butterball, and chunky all these names are what people are called in today's society, I believe this is what prompts people to go on a diet. Every day, thousands of people try to lose weight, but not for all the right reasons, the majority of people want to lose weight with little or no effort involved; some watch infomercials’, see magazine advertisements, music videos featuring fit and trim women and men. There are several types of dieters; I am discussing three types of dieters. The dieters who jump on every new diet fad they are called the “bandwagon dieter”, the “promise dieter” is the person who promises’ him or herself they will really stick to their diet this time. The “compulsive dieter”, this type of dieter will consume a lot of food while they are feeling out of control and powerless to stop. In our society today, Dieters want everything like yesterday, they don’t want to work for it; they want some gimmick to erase the weight they have gained quickly and without any effort, for these effects are called the “bandwagon dieter”. This particular dieter tries several diets such as the master cleanse, the grapefruit diet and South beach diet or Atkins diet, but decides these diets are not working, as the “bandwagon dieter” this dieter watches television or flips through a magazine the dieter stumbles across the newest super pill. This super pill the “bandwagon dieter” takes promises to lose several pounds a week, while it controls the dieter’s appetite. While on this new fad diet the “bandwagon dieter” does not lose their desired weight, this type of dieter never gives up, so on to the next fad new pill that is coming out. ...have been a version of each one of these dieters. I’ve jumped on a bandwagon or two of some of the newest diets around looking for the magical pill or diet craze. I have also been the promise dieter, when promising this is the week I’m going to go hard and diet. I certainly have been a compulsive dieter, eating snacks, trouncing the amount I have eaten and just feeling bad afterwards. Although, I hate to admit that I have been all of these dieters sometime in my life. I haven’t been alone in this type of weight loss; discussing this topic with friends, I find were all combating the same demons “Food”. So, I plead with my follow dieters, and ask them let’s change our lifestyle? We can take this one sensible meal at a time.
