Birth/ Youth Info

George Washington, born on February 22, 1732 at Pope’s Creek, Virginia on Ferry Farm was an extraordinary man. His parents were Mary Bell Washington, who was his mother, and Augustine, nicknamed Gus, Washington. George had six siblings in total and his favorite one was his brother. Lawrence Washington was 14 years older than George Washington and they were way closer than brothers. Whatever Lawrence did, George did. Wherever Lawrence went, George went. George graduated from school at age 15 and decided to go to college.

Early Years

At one time, Lawrence caught a deadly disease, Tuberculosis. During the infection, George took his first and only trip outside of the United States. Quote

“John Marshall, a member of the House of Representatives who had served under Washington, addressed the speaker of the House:
‘The melancholy event which was yesterday announced with doubt, has been rendered but too certain. Our Washington is no more. The hero, the patriot, and the sage of America; the man on whom in times of danger every eye was turned, and all hopes were placed, lives now only in his own great actions, and in the hearts of an affectionate and afflicted people'.”
The nation mourned Washington's death for months.”
