And Abner also spake in the hearing of Benjamin: and Abner went also to speak in the ears of David in Hebron all that seemed good to Israel, and that seem good to the whole house of Benjamin. So Abner came to David to Hebron, and twenty men with him. And David made Abner and the men that were with him a feast. And Abner said unto David, I will arise and go, and will gather all Israel unto my lord the king, that they may make a league with thee, and that thou mayest reign over all that thine heart desireth. And David sent Abner away; and he went in peace. (2 Samuel 3:17-21)
To better explain this inclusion, Abner begins to solicit the support of the nation for David. He appeals to a spirit that he believes is already within the nation's people and he encourages the need for closeness with God's oath. Abner makes an appearance at another tribal home in Benjamin to invoke their participation. After gaining their support, Abner heads for Hebron to see David. Abner arrives Hebron and is welcomed to a feast. Now, these former enemies sit and eat together at one table--thus symbolizing the union of their nation. Abner then asked David's okay to go and gather all of Israel, so David maybe king over all. Abner started on his journey to end a war and was successful in his efforts by communicating with showing respect.
David came to the Philistine in the name of the Lord of hosts. God allowed David to slay the giant because he was a faithful believer. “Then David said to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied” (KJV, 1 Samuel 17:45). David’s courage to face the giant as a youth was proof of his undeniable courage. David was resented by Saul and was constantly eluding Saul’s attempts to kill him. Saul had a great desire to eliminate his presence, but God protected David from any harm. For a long time David was kept in continual apprehension of falling by the hand of Saul, yet he persevered in meek and respectful behavior towards his persecutor (Henry, 2001). David remained faithful to God’s plan to make him King. One glance at David’s life can’t miss the glaring mistakes he made, but David never tried to blame others or make excuses for his sins (Fackler, 2006). David was patient to take the throne of Israel although he had to wait a very long time for Saul’s reign to be over. David remained courageous throughout Saul’s persecution. Many of the remarks can easily tie in with the American culture core values, which include, Americans are among a chosen people, manifest destiny, morality yields prosperity, and the protestant ethic.
The Old Testament law is seen as irrelevant by most modern Christians today. Christians are now under the blood of Jesus Christ which is said to abrogate the Law. Galatians 6:2 says, “Bear one another's burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.” The law of Christ is to love God and your neighbor as yourself. This does not mean, however, that the Old Testament Law does not apply to Christians today. Author J. Daniel Hays expounds on this topic in his article, “Applying the Old Testament Law Today,” and focuses on the hermeneutical approach of Principlism. This approach allows the Old Testament Law to be viewed in light of the New Testament.
Christianity and Politics The descriptions of the Roman Empire and state authority offered in Christian texts seems to be one that is oppressive. Since the state often punished Christians for disturbing the peace, the Empire is often shown as merciless and callous. However, texts seem to suggest that the Empire did not treat Christians any differently from the other citizens of the state. Christianity in itself was not illegal under Roman law, so Christians were not targeted specifically as a group.

In the LORD’s sight, Hezekiah did what was right, just like David (2 Kgs 18:3). 2 Kings 18: 5 also states that “and neither before nor after [Hezekiah] was there anyone like him among all the kings of Judah.” Unlike Solomon, Hezekiah observed the commandments and thus, “the LORD was with him, and he succeeded in all he set out to do” (2 Kgs 18:7). Therefore, the Deuteronomistic History looks favorably upon kings, since the need for a king is stated multiple times in Judges, and kings like David and Hezekiah are looked upon with favor by God and the people

When Saul and his servant came across Prophet Samuel’s path they caught each other’s attention. The day before Saul came, the Lord had revealed to Samuel that a man from the land of Benjamin will come to him and the man will be anointed as ruler over God’s people of Israel. That man will deliver Israel from the hand of the Philistines. Prophet Samuel anoints Saul as king, even though Saul never wanted to be king in the first place.

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. (Jeremiah 31:31-33)” In the verses above God speaks the time when he brought Israel out of Egypt and made the old covenant with the people. The old covenant dealt with physical circumcision of the people of Israel. (Exodus 12:48) This verse then looks forward to the time

The Bible rather shows that David improves in righteousness when he cries and admits that he does wrong to God and begs for forgiveness. David overseeing Temar's rape is depicted to show how David has been scarred for committing adultery. The more issues that reveal David's shortcomings, they become more opportunities for David to better himself. By acknowledging what he has done wrong, David disproves any reason why the revolt against him would have any benefits for the kingdom.
