Recommended: Growth as a writer
It is not apocryphal but intellectually genuine that any writer with a passion for writing can be as prolific as he or she wants with originality worth praising in every dimension of it. Creativity could be unpredictable in its capacity with such writer. He goes fishing for writing early in the morning violating every facet of how to fish for words that can make up a good story, for instance, and yet he comes back from fishing for his words with success beyond imagination.
Making reading an obsession is a must for any writer with the long-term intention to excel at his writings. Reading a book after a book, no matter what subject, is not only important but it is paramount for the growth of any writer who has the desire to make every single day of his life a learning opportunity to take one more step towards being a robust writer, a sense of a journey but not of a destination. If you stop growing as a writer, you risk undoing all your previous gains probably followed by a death of imagination to realize where you are on daily basis. If you don't measure your progress incessantly, life measures your lack of progress and throws you into one-way river of backwardness assassinating the core of your being a writer. Your mind as a writer does not only feed on food and oxygen, but it thrives on reading and writing words as lifetime companions with whom you share unbreakable loyalty, and pampering them as lovely babies of yours and watching them to grow in your subconscious mind is vital. Not letting your words to decay in the womb of creativity and constantly bringing them into existence is like going to the gym more often to build the muscles of your body, not randomly but on a timetable carefully designed by you to give birth to frui...

Reading your past writings
If you read more, the more impact it has on your subconscious mind;this means the more you are exposed to writing and reading, the better. So, if you make writing a habit, your writing becomes like a beautiful baby growing in an excellent society radiating bright rays of knowledge. Have you ever noticed reading your past writings feels a little bit different from your current ones? Don't fret, for striving writers, this is good because your writing is growing and the ways you write is becoming better and better than it used to be. In a nutshell, if you keep writing, if you keep reading, then your everyday learning about writing will climb new horizons of sophistication.
Reading is an interesting thing. Through reading, people are able to understand the world, it brings the understanding of life and the sublimation of soul. Every book is the essence of the author’s perception and insight of life, and it is not possible to write a beautiful book only in one attempt. Anne Lamott is American novelist and non-fiction writer, in her article, “Shitty First Draft”, she argues that almost all good writing begins with terrible first efforts and that lead to clarity and sometimes brilliance in our second and third drafts. I agree with Anne Lamott, I believe there is nobody can succeed only at one time, and also a successful book needs to be revised many times.
One day I watched the movie “A walk to Remember” and I just fell in love with it. After that I was at the library with my siblings, who love to read, and I saw that book which was written by Nicholas Sparks. I remember thinking to myself how amazing the movie was, so of course the book must be phenomenal. So I decided to get the book and read it and that is when I found the author that spoke to me. I enjoyed every second of reading his book and it is like his books changed me. I went from being this tomboy girl that only cared about basketball. To this girly girl who was in love with the idea of love. As Helen Keller, A women from the 1800's who was both blind and deaf wrote in her book The day Language Came into my Life, “The living world awakened my soul, gave it light, hop, joy, set it free.”(Keller 74) Although in this quote she is saying that learning to read changed her life entirely. I can still relate because finally finding a book that I enjoyed reading changed the way I looked at books. I still did not fully enjoy reading, but I was never opposed to reading something by Nicholas Sparks. Even though I found the author that spoke to me, it was still hard to convince myself to just sit down and read. Every once in a while like on a car ride or if I was waiting after school for my practice to start I would read a little but I still never fully got into
Several people have trouble writing college level essays and believe that they are unable to improve their writing skills. In “the Inspired Writer vs. The Real Writer,” Sarah Allen argues how no one is born naturally good at writing. Sarah Allen also states how even professional writers have trouble with the task of writing. Others, such as Lennie Irvin, agree. In Irvin’s article “What is ‘Academic’ Writing?” states how there are misconceptions about writing. Furthermore, Mike Bunn’s article “How to Read Like a Writer” shows ways on how one can improve their writing skills. Allen, Bunn, and Irvin are correct to say how no one is born naturally good writers. Now that we know this, we should find ways to help improve our writing skills, and
Each year as I grow old, I tend to discover and learn new things about myself as a person as well as a reader, writer and a student as a whole. My educational journey so far has been pretty interesting and full of surprises. Back in Bangladesh where I studied until high school, my interest for learning, reading or writing was so very different compared to how it has become over the years. I could relate those learning days to Richard Rodriquez’s essay “The lonely Good Company of Books”. In the essay the author says, “Friends? Reading was, at best, only a chore.”(Rodriguez, page 294). During those days I sure did feel like reading was a chore for me and how I was unable to focus and I could never understand what all those jumbled up words ever meant. It was quite a struggle for me in class when the teachers used to assign us reading homework. I felt like reading a book was more difficult or painful than trying to move a mountain. Just like how moving a mountain is impossible, trying to find an interest in reading was
Many people think that reading more can help them to think and develop before writing something. Others might think that they don’t need to read and or write that it can really help them to brainstorm things a lot quicker and to develop their own ideas immediately (right away). The author’s purpose of Stephen King’s essay, Reading to Write, is to understand the concepts, strategies and understandings of how to always read first and then start something. The importance of this essay is to understand and comprehend our reading and writing skills by brainstorming our ideas and thoughts a lot quicker. In other words, we must always try to read first before we can brainstorm some ideas and to think before we write something. There are many reasons why I chose Stephen King’s essay, Reading to Write, by many ways that reading can help you to comprehend, writing, can help you to evaluate and summarize things after reading a passage, if you read, it can help you to write things better and as you read, it can help you to think and evaluate of what to write about.
Ever since I was a child, I've never liked reading. Every time I was told to read, I would just sleep or do something else instead. In "A Love Affair with Books" by Bernadete Piassa tells a story about her passion for reading books. Piassa demonstrates how reading books has influenced her life. Reading her story has given me a different perspective on books. It has showed me that not only are they words written on paper, they are also feelings and expressions.
While the difficulties in teaching students not only to be good writers, but also to enjoy writing are easy to complain about, they are not immediately changeable. Consequently, as a teacher of young writers, one must find a way to make the system work. Ross Borden found a way with me, and I feel I have found a way with many of my students, but not all of them. So I continue to read, and I continue to write, and I continue to teach, though I also continue to struggle with the many problems surrounding the field.
Reading a book is in many ways the same as exercising the muscles in your arm, as you are feeding your brain new information and ideas of life. Life is short and I believe that you should always be positive and do the things that you want without people telling you that you are wrong. The following Novels have taught me various aspects, which I have and still am using to make my life a memorable one as well as a positive one.
Then perfect your craft by practice over and over and read to expand your vocabulary to become a better writer. Critical thinking plays a significant part in writing as well as know how to write and correct punctuation and grammar. There's a lot that comes into play when it to writing. Things like Planning, drafting, revising, editing and proofreading and submitting(Vandermey, 2012). It all has to do with becoming a good writer, which takes practices, patience, and determination to become a good
Even if you're not reading them over and over again, you know they are there. And they're part of your history. They sort of tell a story about your journey through life.” According to an article in Scientific America, a study conducted by Canstano, a social psychologist, has suggested reading improves empathy levels in people, giving individuals a better understanding of the world around them. As John Green states, “Good books help you to understand, and they help you to feel understood.”
When I was younger, I was told that to read is to enter a world of your imagination, a world that is entirely your own, and I believed it. After all, who was I to be someone that wouldn't want to be able to hop into a new reality whenever they picked up a bound stack of pages? Something incredibly simple held heaps of inspiration and it was so remarkable to my young self that I made a point to read anything that I could get my hands on. Whenever I was upset, when my fears came back in full force, waltzing through tragedies and gracefully dodging miseries as if I would somehow be impressed by their dexterity, reading was there. Forget plane tickets, forget the moon, the sky, the stars, there were no limits to where I could soar within the confines
Reading and writing have made a huge difference in my life. Throughout my reading and writing career, I have had my ups and downs on how I feel about it. In elementary school I was more positive about both of them because I knew I was learning and I was really eager to learn. In high school, I had years when I loved reading and writing and years where I didn’t like it. During my college experience, I have had a mostly positive feeling about reading and
Reading was never something I fussed about growing up. As a child, I loved genres of realistic fiction. I was hooked on The New Adventures of Mary Kate and Ashley, Goosebumps, The Amazing Days of Abby Hayes, Judy Moody, and especially, Zoobooks and Highlights magazines. My mother was always ready to help build my reading and writing skills. She took me to the library constantly to feed my passion for books and knowledge. I loved exploring the shelfs, organizing the books, and filling up my library cart. I tried keeping a diary in elementary school to keep track of my outings with my parents and grandparents to museums, zoos, movies, and libraries. This flash of writing enthusiasm was spun from books I read in the 4th and 5th grade that were
To be completely honest I haven't always liked reading and writing for say. When I was little reading and writing was a struggle but as I grew up it came a little more natural, because of all the stuff I did growing up: from music, to writing, to singing and choir, to a passion and love. Writing nowadays is what I do on a daily basis. Writing is considered an outlet for me and I know I am not the only one. I have met tons of new people and friends through writing because someone has read my book then commented or asked a question and we just end up talking and having similar interest and just become friends. Or through music, some of my best friends, we became awesomely close through liking the same music and feeling
There are many types of writers out there however, In order to escape from the sufferings of what’s going on in today's humanity without taking any sources of breaks , many people would end up reading books instead of always being on the computer or watching television because once you start reading , you can gain more information which would allow you to do well in many things . Reading for an preference has become more popular in the past century than it has ever been before. (Alice Munro)
