The test taking lessons have helped me learn more about having good strategies for a test. I feel that with these lessons learned I can have more confidence to take a test and pass it. In this report I want to show why test taking is an important skill to learn. I also wanted to describe how I have prepared for test in the past. I also wanted to discuss three strategies I have learned from the computer tutorial in class and how I have changed my study habits so I can do better on test.
Test taking is one of the most important things to have good skills at. Test usually have a significant effect on your grade. The more you are used to test and are prepared for different types of test, the better your grade will be. I know that when I take test, I get vary nervous and I cant concentrate, but when I have the feeling of being prepared for the test, I notice that I am not so nervous when I come to take it. You should always find time to improve your test taking methods, personally I try to devote one whole hour the night before a big test so I can remember a lot the next day. In school you will have various test that some will be easy and some will be vary difficult, you should always be mentally prepared to take whatever test they give you.

The main protagonist for this story is Mr. Waythorn, he is the third and current husband of Alice Waythorn and the story is mostly told from his perspective. He is the main character of the story and works with Alice's second husband, Gus Varick. He is also the stepfather of Lily who is the daughter of the first husband of Alice; Mr. Haskett. He looks beyond the social stigma of marrying a woman who has been twice divorced. We see throughout the story Mr. Waythorn’s character undergoes some changes in the way he views his wife and her past relationships thereby making him a round character. Mrs. Waythorn is the antagonist of this story, it is obvious that the she has used all her marriages to advance her social standing, she redefines herself based on the level she attains, thereby refining who she is to those around her. We see all this from the perspective of her husband. After the glow of the honeymoon has died down Mr. Waythorn begins to realize that his perception of who Alice was before they got married was probably wrong. Alice is revealed to be more complicated as a character than we are initially presented with based on the perception of her current husband, so for this reason she is a round character.
From the start of the American Civil War, 1860, until the end of the Reconstruction, 1877, the United States of America endured what can be considered a revolution. Prior to the year 1860, there was a lack of union because of central government power flourishing rather than state power. Therefore, there was a split of opposite sides, North and South, fighting for authority. One major issue that came into mind was of slavery. At first, there were enactments that were issued to limit or rather prevent conflict to erupt, such as the numerous compromises, Missouri Compromise and the Compromise of 1850. They did not fulfill the needs of the states, South states in particular; therefore, in the year 1860, the Civil War had commenced. There was the issue of inequality of Blacks in suffrage, politics, and the use of public facilities. However, much constitutional and social advancement in the period culminated in the revolution. To a radical extent, constitutional development between 1860 and 1877 amount to a revolution because of events like the Emancipation Proclamation, Civil Rights Act, the amendments that tried to change African Americans lives in American Society and contributed to get the union together. There is the social developments as well that to a lesser extent had amounted to the revolution because of organizations like the Klu Klux Klan, Freedmen’s Bureau lacking, and discrimination against African Americans that caused progression of violence and white supremacy.
I had a Political science professor that once said “Political survey answers depend more on how a question is asked than on what the question is asking.” I read and reread the above question. I have to admit that even after 15 weeks of topic discussions, PowerPoint, text chapters and Google; I am still confused about how tax expenditure works. The nearest I can figure out and in plain English, it is simply a tax break. That being said, this question is very methodically asked. The term “anti-poverty programs” is a gentle, non threatening term that will be met with compassion and kindness among more than 85% of (surveyed) US citizens. Second “tax expenditures” is a confusing term associated with the mean IRS that must have something to do with the government taking hard earned money and doing something with it, but what? Who knows? The final term is the big, bad anti-conservative term that only about 11% of surveyed Americans actually greet with any positivity. So the question in our subconscious mind flows something like: “What are the advantages and disadvantages of helping people who need it with your tax money instead of giving it to people who don’t want to work?” But that’s not what the question is asking. Because I know that my subconscious takes into consideration, the information it believes is true. First anti-poverty programs, such as Medicaid, are in most people’s minds still welfare. When it comes to preparing for and taking tests we must avoid the myths and manage our time wisely. By doing so we can avoid test anxiety. Students we must make sure that we use all of our tools and resources available to make our learning experience a enjoyable one.
Attitude The mind set and attitude at the time of the test are critical. It is important to maintain enthusiasm and interest when testing yourself because it has been found to make a difference. When a person begins to get bored, their score often times goes down.

A goal I have for academics is to not fail any quizzes or tests. One way I can do this is to study before every quiz and test. I can do this by making a good study guide and good notes for myself. I will also ask many questions so I can so I can know all the information. If I am confused on a question, I should ask questions so I can understand what will be asked on the test. One of the most important things I need to do to help my test grade is pay attention in class. If I take plenty of notes and listen to the lesson, I will have resources to study off of so I will do well. This year, I should do well on all of my tests and quizzes as long as I study, pay attention in class, and ask plenty of questions.

A review of the literature indicates that self- and peer-quizzing can enhance learning. With increased learning, students can improve their performance on tests. Students should start by creating their own study questions and answering them. Doing this action properly, the students will study the content in-depth. Then they should quiz themselves. This will help them identify concepts that they need to study further. Next, they should have reciprocal peer-quizzing. This collaborative activity will help students increase their understanding as they explain their questions and answers. They will not simply memorize the material for the test time, but the students will also retain the information for later retrieval.
In Ovid’s “The Story of Daedalus and Icarus”, Ovid uses characterization to make the characters realistic and vivid and to reveal plot through the characters’ actions, thoughts, speech and physical appearance. Once I hear my teacher say that we're taking a quiz or test or some sort of assessment I begin to lack concentration and get extremely shaky and at loss of the topic. I'm suddenly not able to focus on the test and instead think of the fact that if I fail the assessment, it will bring down my grade drastically. I am afraid that doing poorly on the test will tell my teacher that I haven't been paying attention in class and do not understand the learning targets. The truth is I have been paying attention. I do know the learning targets, but taking a standardized test is not a way I can show that. The work I do in class and how I work with others and help them REALLY defines what I know. But in school for us students, these standardized assessments are such a big part of our grade, that passing or failing a course can be determined by how well we do on these assessments.
