Marilyn Manson, The Beatles, NWA, Garth Brooks, and the king, Elvis, What do all these people have in common? Well, yes, they are all musical groups, but there is something more. Marilyn Manson is a heavy metal group who worships Satan, the Beatles were one of the greatest Rock N’ Roll bands of all time, and NWA was a hard-core rap group from the 80’s. Garth Brooks is a country singer and greatest selling performer of all time, and well, Elvis is the king of Rock N’ Roll. So what do they all have in common? All of these artists have or had songs with indecent or obscene lyrics.
Since the dawn of musical expression, there have been people trying to stop or hinder the constitutional right to listen and enjoy music of all forms. There were ordinary, everyday people during the infancy of Rock N’ Roll in the 1960’s who made it their mission in life to stop so-called “obscene” music like the Beatles song “Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds,” from polluting our airwaves and minds. These groups succeeded in banning some songs from the radio, but most of their actions were for naught, because there was no real punishment for radio stations playing those songs labeled “obscene.” By 1985, many people wanted to cleanse the music industry of its “indecent” music, so the most prominent group in the history of music censorship was started: The Parents’ Music Resource Center (PMRC)-(A Brief…). This was just the first of many groups who made it their business to decide what the American Population should or should not listen to. These censorship groups have also been able to get government money in order to fight, lie, and bribe their way to censoring music. The PMRC and other organizations have also convinced government organizations like the Federal Communications Commissions (FCC) to regulate what music is played on the radio. Places like Target, Disc Jockey, and other local record stores are also forced to label music that the PMRC and other censorship groups find obscene (A Brief…)
Who is to say that what is obscene to someone might not be seen as obscene to another person? This question, as well as many others, brought forth many anti-censorship organizations who fight to give the people of America the right to listen to whatever music they want to, indecent or not. The First Amendment from anyone who tries to cen...

...ment and all the music censorship organizations to deny musicians and the public our constitutional rights? And why do we pay millions of our tax dollars to try and undermine what our whole country was built upon over two hundred years ago? We must acknowledge that ratings systems of any kind can do and result in censorship. And we all must fight to preserve free speech for everyone regardless of whether or not we agree with the message. (National Campaign…) When politicians and religious leaders call for censorship because they personally find the message objectionable, or you wonder why you should join the fight against music censorship, please consider this quote be Martin Niemoeller, a Lutheran pastor who was arrested by the Gestapo in 1938. He said,
In Germany, the Nazi’s came for the communists, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn’t speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist. Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak for me.
Burglaries happen a lot in homes and happen very often, mostly when it is warmer outside because people are on vacation and away from their homes for long periods of time. Homeowners are recommended to get security systems installed on their properties to help prevent bad things to happen while they are away. Police officers are doing what they can to help prevent burglaries and all sorts of crimes in our communities. Even though burglar’s strike many times they eventually do get caught and pay the price with jail time.

With jobs and opportunities scarce, many were forced to return to school or take refuge by moving back in with their parents. The idea of buying a place of their own seemed impossible. This is one of the factors that could decrease homeownership among the generation. Another factor that could decrease homeownership is that the housing market itself faces powerful headwinds. Changes in demographics and in the industry have held back demand and supply. Neither is likely to be unleashed any time soon. The last three years of recovery and job growth have raised hopes that millennials will soon be crowding open houses and kicking the slow-moving home-building industry into higher gear. A resurgence of residential construction would provide a big lift at a time when the recovery has lost momentum because of economic turmoil abroad. This can increase the homeownership among the generation. Millennial-generation home buyers have not emerged in expected numbers, in part because they are staying single or getting married and having children later in life. The share of 18- to 34-year-olds who are married and with kids has fallen steadily to 20% from almost 50% in 1970. That means fewer people feel compelled to go out on their own or move out of apartments they share with friends and other roommates. For whatever reason, millennials are also staying
Censorship in music is a very controversial subject in today’s society. What is considered a form of artistic expression to some is also considered vulgar and inappropriate to others. But who ultimately gets to decide what is considered vulgar and what is not? Who decides who hears what in the music industry? The RIAA is responsible for applying the Parental Advisory stamp on every album that is released in the United States. The FCC is responsible for making sure that no vulgarities or controversial comments are aired on radio or television. But why is some content edited and other content not? I will try and explain these questions in our article.
C. Delores Tucker, chair of National Political Congress of Black Women, said, "No one and no industry should be allowed to continue the social and psychological poisoning of the young minds of this nation that occurs with the music industry" (91). This belief of musical content being "poison" is prominent all over America. During the 1970's, record burning was a popular way to speak out against music content, and today protests are quite popular. Other ways of stifling these problematic artists may be through the pressure of having to use a parental advisory label or legislation passing bills. The head of the Boston Coalition for Freedom of Expression, Jim D' Entremont, explains one of the bills passed by Governor George W. Bush Jr. as "Prohibiting the state of Texas or any of its agencies in investing in any private concern that owns at least ten percent of any corporation that produces music which describes, glamorizes or advocates violence, drug abuse or sexual activity" (111).
In conclusion, censorship in music is wrong in my opinion. Artists should be allowed to say whatever they want. That is what our founding fathers based this country upon: freedom. The government is doing an excellent job in making the First Amendment universal towards all. If parents have a problem with it, it is because they did not properly supervise their children.
When someone commits the offense they commit some unlawful itself affect the property or rights of another person. somebody committing a larceny committed the crime . Laws regarding the intrusion and theft to limit the particular crime a violation against the rights of ownership. Laws concerning the larceny during this manner don't seem to be against criminals who take possession of certain property they knew belonged to a different person. If someone takes something they didn't recognize reasonably belonged to some other person , so that they don't commit theft.
Once people hear about the United States they automatically relate the country to the word “freedom.” Little do they know that this country has many similarities to countries where censorship plays a major role in their daily lives, due to their government. One of the major issues that involve censorship within the United States is the question whether or not music should be censored; and how will parents or the government decide at what age it is appropriate to allow children to listen to music pertaining profanity? There are two sides to this issue; there are people who are for and there are those who are against censorship in music. At what point does action transcend from a matter of consumer choice to the matter of censorship? I think that the government and parents should not refrain their children from listening to different kinds of music, because once they do that, they deprive their children from knowing what’s happening in our society.

Music is one of the most popular ways of expression and has been for generations. It makes us want to dance, inspires, soothes, relaxes, and sometimes tells us a story. Music is something the whole world shares and has brought together different kinds of people. However, there has been a question on whether some music has affected society negatively and crossed the line with some of its lyrics, content, and the persona of the artists. Certain music has been boycotted and even banned in the U.S. Pro-censorship supporters say that music is something that can deeply affect our society especially children who should not have to be subjected to things like violence, sex, drugs, or hate. However, being that music is a form of expression, censoring it would just be violating everyone's right to freedom of speech and expression.
This paper will provide an explanation into how differential association theory explains burglary. Burglary, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigations (F.B.I), considers a property crime a Type 1 Index Crime because of its potentially violent nature. The F.B.I. breaks burglary down into three sub classifications. This paper discusses the elements of the crime of burglary and what constitutes a structure or dwelling. It will discuss a brief history of the deviance, trends and rates, and how it correlates to the specific theory that this paper will also discuss.
Buying and owning your home is part of the American dream. Although the dream itself has since changed, the home still remains the main focal point. Today owning a home doesn’t necessarily mean a house. People now buy duplexes, cooperative apartments, and condominiums. For some families it could take up to a couple of generations before it’s able to have the capabilities of buying a home. To many people it means a certain achievement that only comes after years of hard work. It is a life altering decision and one of the most important someone can make in their lifetime. The reasons behind the actual purchase could vary. Before anything is done, people must understand that it’s an extraneous process and it is a long term project.
An option for individuals look are looking to buy property have the option to purchase a house. The advantages are: “pride in ownership, privacy, own land, tax benefits, fixed rate, security, and can renovate to their desire. The disadvantages are: less flexibility, mortgage has interest, more stress about money, requires down payments, closing costs, and moving costs, need to have a fixed income/stable income, and bank may take over house if payments are not made” (Zillow, May 12th 2012 ). Pride of ownership is advantage because it gives those individuals accomplishment feeling and shows their hard work paid off and do not have to deal with landlords anymore” (Free Advise Staff, unknown date). Privacy is another advantage because it gives the homeowners the freedom to do whatever they wish and not worrying that they will break the rules. Owning land is an advantage because “every time you pay off your mortgage individuals are gaining equity and increasing your assets” (Chapman’s lecture, unknown date). Another advantage is individuals will get a “tax benefit which will help pay off the interest of the mortgage and increases income” (Kirlew, Unknown date). Security is an advantage because in the “long run if some individuals want to have kids those individuals do not have to worry about moving each year, but instead helps their children grow up in a ...
Censorship of all kinds has existed since recorded history, whether in literature, speech, music, or visual entertainments. Censorship stems from fear of ideas spreading that are contrary to what has been established as "correct", "moral", "normal", or "suitable"; essentially, censorship stems from a fear of change. For change to progress, or to even exist at all, "the norm" needs to be challenged, and those most capable of grasping and embracing change are the young people of a society. Young adults (of this century and the 20th century especially) use music to express themselves, distinguish themselves from their parents, and convey new ideas. Music can aid in new movements, a new "norm", provide a voice to those who feel they cannot be heard otherwise, and give identity to those who feel they have none. Music can change things, it scares people, but it should not receive censorship because of the change it can create.
More farmers are now planting crops for biofuel, resulting to an intense drop in food production. According to experts this promising alternative energy source is seemingly causing a global decrease of food supply. As the demand for biofuels increases, more industrialized countries are offering encouragements and subsidizing farmers to grow crops for fuel rather than for food. The biofuel production method was also anticipated to be carbon neutral, as the crops would absorb the carbon dioxide released when the biofuel was burned. However crops for fuel are now grown at such a rate that they need more energy to cultivate, grow and harvest. By the time it reaches households, it would have consumed more energy and released more greenhouse causing substances than the feared fossil fuels would have. The fact that emissions are released during production, processing, fertilizer application and as a result of land use change is highly ignored. Somehow biofuels can sidetrack less harmful and clean resources like renewable energies such as solar and wind energy. Large scale cultivation of biofuel crops, unlike small scale, locally produced and biofuel owned farms are commonly challenged by problems such as severe use of water, chemicals, fertilizers and pesticides. These also often lead to pollution, depleting and degrading available water resources which can cause famines. According to contrary believe of analysts, it has also shown that there is not enough farming land on earth to produce biofuel crops to meet the huge energy needs encouraged by our current and unmaintainable ways of living. http://www.greenerideal.com/science/0516-biofuels/ &
