Violence on TV
For a long time now the debate has been, and continues to be, as to whether or not violence on television makes children more violent. As with all contentious issues there are both proponents and detractors. This argument has been resurrected in the wake of school shootings, most notably Columbine and Erfurt, Germany; and acts of random violence by teenagers, the murders of two Dartmouth professors. Parents, teachers, pediatricians, child psychiatrists, and FCC Chairmen William Kennard and former Vice President Al Gore say violent TV programming contribute in large part to in violence in young people today. However, broadcasters and major cable TV providers like Cox Communication say that it is the parent’s fault for not making it clear to their kids as what they may or may not watch on TV. The major TV networks and cable providers also state it is the TV industry’s fault as well for not regulating what is shown on TV. So who is the guilty party in this argument of whether or not TV violence influences of the behavior young people in today’s society?
There is a "general consensus among social scientists that television violence increases the propensity to real-life aggression among some viewers," and yet, paradoxically, "there is presently little evidence indicating that violence enhances program popularity" (Diener & DeFour, 1978). Top government studies insist, "violent material is popular" (Surgeon General's Scientific Advisory Committee on Television and Social Behavior, 1972). Differing conclusions may be viable. One leading social psychologist flatly states, "evidence suggests that violence on television is potentially dangerous, in that it serves as a model for behavior -- especially for children" ...

A year before my encounter, my sister Faith and I were behind our house about a mile deep into the woods. We were playing hide and go seek, and iit was my turn to find her! I couldn’t find her anywhere and then thats when I saw the bush. It looked trampled so I ran to it, only to find my twelve year old sister lying in the snow in a puddle of her own blood. Her throat was ripped open, it looked like a wild animal had taken a bite out of her.
As music legend John Denver once said “Music does bring people together. It allows us to experience the same emotions. People everywhere are the same in heart and spirit. No matter what language we speak, what color we are, the form of our politics or the expression of our love and our faith, Music proves: We are the same.” Jimi Hendrix is one of those elite few who possess the power to bring people together for one common purpose. Hendrix played during the experimental era of the 1960’s. Hendrix a legendary musician and hero to many who enjoyed his music. Hendrix efficacious attitude in the music business helped him to succeed in many areas others did not. His music often changed the lives of the people who he played to and worked with. Hendrix even forged his own musical genre. “The greatest rock guitarist of all time, with a raw,blues-influenced style that brought fire and emotion to rock music unseen before or since”(Unterberger). Jimi Hendrix is remembered as a brilliant innovator of music because of his troublesome childhood, his uncanny dedication, and military background.

Jimi Hendrix, perhaps the best guitarist in rock history became the definition of rock music. In 1967, The Jimi Hendrix Experience shocked the nation with their first album; Are You Experienced? Hendrix had a short life due to drugs. When he was only 27 years old, he died while choking on his own vomit on his way to a hospital. In a few years, rock and roll changed a great deal and Jimi was the sole influence.
“In the few years between his emergence as a solo artist and his death from a barbiturate overdose at the height of his fame, Jimi Hendrix wrought a slew of radical changes on pop music. Arguably the most innovative electric guitarist of all time, he combined the raw passion of the blues, the sonic aggression of hard rock, the aural adventure of psychedelia and modern jazz, and the symphonic lyricism of progressive soul, melding these disparate inclinations into a style that, even when heard in fragments, remains unmistakably his own,” (“Encyclopedia of World
I get it, he’s way before your time, but it’s important to know who he is for the sake of music history. Unlike others Jimi was a self taught guitarist, but is acknowledged today as a musical intellectual. Although his career only spanned four years, he is still widely considered one of the most influential electric guitarist in the history of popular music, and one of the most celebrated of the 20th century. The rock and roll hall of fame proclaims him as “arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music.” Just by that one statement you can tell he is a legend. He is recognized for his precision and speed while playing, and being able to play, sing, and dance simultaneously. Jimi Hendrix impact on rock music took the genre to a whole new level by improving the styles that were used to play a guitar, and being a one man show. He did it all, Jimi would sing, play, and lead at the same time. He consolidated cost and time by learning to do it on his own, and by doing so he set a precedent. The innovation and energy he put in his performances enhanced the music
This lab is designed to measure body composition which is the absolute and relative amounts of body constituents. The human body is composed of fat mass and fat-free mass, when conducting this lab we generally discuss about the percentage of the body mass that constitutes as fat. The purpose of this measurement is to recognize the strong relationship between obesity and increased chance of coronary artery disease, type II diabetes, and hypertension. As we grow and age, body composition testing allows us to institute an ideal weight, compose a blooming diet and design a fitness plan that is right for the body. When measuring body composition, there are two categories: direct and indirect. Direct methods include chemical analysis

The Security Council of the United Nations has the primary responsibility under the United Nations Charter for the maintenance of international peace and security.
“When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace,” said legendary American rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter. In the 1960’s Jimi Hendrix, along with many other musical artists, greatly influenced numerous people. His unorthodox method of playing and how well he played the guitar would become his trademark for many years to come. Arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music, Hendrix expanded the range and vocabulary of the electric guitar and pioneered explosive possibilities of the instrument. His innovative style of combining fuzz, feedback, and controlled distortion created a new musical form.
Anthropometric measurements can be considered the most commonly used methods of nutritional status, at both the individual and population levels. The measurements should characterize the composition of the human body at different degrees of nutrition under the standardized procedures and appropriate reference data. (Gibson, 2005; Willet, 1998; WHO, 1995; WHO 2000; WHO 2006). The measures of body elements assessed at individual level can be commonly used to represent individual's nutritional status directly. Furthermore, may help to distinguish between fat and fat free mass and can provide broaden information about, for example, protein store.
The nutritional assessment is a systematic process of obtaining, verifying, and interpreting data in order to make decisions about obese or malnourished patients. It is an ongoing process that involves data collection followed by continued reassessment and analysis of the patient’s status compared with specific criteria. The patients’ BMI, score, risk which is based on low, medium and high. The loss of subcutaneous fat, muscle waste is used as evidence of malnutrition and also a dull, dry sparse hair can signify a possible protein energy deficiency. The elderly is particularly prone to wounds caused by dehydration. Gandy (2014) highlights four main causes of malnutrition as altered nutrients intake, impaired digestion or absorption and
... was clear that every journalist, theorist or people I spoke to, all have the common goal of getting to know the child in order to build on that relationship. Getting to know a student starts before the child even sets a foot in your door. How can this be? Well, in order for us to get to know our students we must first know ourselves. This can only come by being aware of why we become teachers. When we look back at this we get to openly know the reason why we are patient and seek out getting to know a child. I do this because I love it. I love the challenge of making a student’s frown turn into a smile. I love getting invites to their birthday parties and even sleepover’s. I love that before a child heads home he or she must give you a hug. This is why I became a teacher in order to experience this bond. A bond that is more than a friendship, it is love.
The emotional barring that a positive relationship can have profound effects on a student’s output. Hughes and Chen, 2011, as cited in Liberante, L. (2012) states “Teacher-student interactions influences… student’s academic outcomes and behaviours. Supportive and positive relationships between teachers and students ultimately promote a sense of belonging” (p.278). Through the use of a positive student-teacher relationship, a student’s output can increase dramatically and the emotional benefits can give a student a sense of worth. Another vital part towards a successful student-teacher relationship is how teachers can fulfil the expectations set out by their students. Reitz, T. (2001) “Students identified many qualities they feel necessary to have a positive relationship with their teachers… The first quality is the establishment of rules… Another quality is respect… The final quality is the emotional connection that students want to make with their teachers. This includes the teacher sharing personal information about themselves” (p.107-108). What Reitz is trying to convey - is students have certain exceptions in terms of their teachers and if a teacher is unable to fill these standards, then a student might feel threatened or emotionally disconnected from their teacher which could potentially harm a successful student-teacher
There are individuals that live in fear of showing their true identity to the world because they simply fear that society won’t accept them for having a different sexual orientation. Society advocates that individuals should be able to be proud of who they are, but yet they judge homosexuals for being different. People are taught not to judge others based on their race or religion, so why do they still discriminate against homosexuals? The homosexual subculture is not accepted by society, looked down upon, and misjudged; however, they are human beings and deserve to be treated equally.
