Creationism and the study of evolution has been a controversial debate for decades now, leaving many people on one side or the other. Creationism argues that faith should take precedent over science, basing its beliefs on one book for guidance, the Bible. God created the earth and everything on it, taking six days. Evolutionists believe that the earth is much older than the Bible describes, and that plants, animals, and humans are a result of a natural progression called evolution. There were no common ancestors (Adam and Eve) from whom we came; it was a natural selection process, stemming from inorganic compounds and nature. For many people in the scientific world, it is hard to take a final stance on this issue since there is evidence of evolution, but that is where faith in God and what God has done comes into effect. According to a great medieval philosopher, Moses Maimonides, “conflicts between science and the Bible arise from either a lack of scientific knowledge or a defective understanding of the Bible”(Schroeder, 3). This paper will reveal some topics that these two groups debate about, along with their viewpoints.

In conclusion, it is possible for science and religion to overlap. Although Gould’s non-overlapping magisterial claims that creationism doesn’t conflict with evolution, it doesn’t hold with a religion that takes the biblical stories literally. Moreover, I defended my thesis, there is some overlap between science and religion and these overlaps cause conflict that make it necessary to reject either science or religion, by using Dawkins’ and Plantinga’s arguments. I said earlier that I agree with Dawkins that both science and religion provide explanation, consolation, and uplift to society. However, there is only conflict when science and religion attempt to explain human existence. Lastly, I use Plantinga’s argument for exclusivists to show that such conflict means that science and religion are not compatible. It demands a rejection t either science or religion.
The similarities between Okonkwo and Oedipus, of Things Fall Apart and of Oedipus the King are displayed on numerous occasions and are easy to recognize. Both men possess an egotistic nature and have an overwhelming sense of pride of their accomplishments, their successes of rising to power are short lived as they will lose along with their legacy as respected men, and Okonkwo and Oedipus were short tempered and were angered easily. The latter would contribute greatly to their downfalls. The tragedies of both Things Fall Apart and Oedipus the King link the protagonists regardless of the thousand year gap.
Humans have asked questions about their origin and their purpose on earth for eons. The Bible tells humans that God created them and explains their purpose. However, since the Renaissance, humanism answers questions about origins by naturalistic means and science has been redefined in the process. Most institutions of higher education and many individuals have adopted the naturalistic theory of evolution to explain human origin without considering its effects on faith. In contrast to prevailing thought at Goshen College, a literal six-day creation is foundational to the Gospel message. Combining evolution and Christianity makes one’s faith less logical and opens one’s science to new quandaries.
Software design and development is a field that requires various skills and abilities. Companies engaged in the development of software should provide an inclusive work environment where the different strengths of their employees are recognised, utilised and respected. Software development involves far more than programming skills. Personnel are required with strong communication, teamwork, attention to detail, creativity, design and problem-solving skills. The main characters of the novel are Ralph and Jack, though Simon, Piggy, Roger or the littluns are a key part in the growth of the events. The development of the characters throughout the novel carries out the progress of the themes and motifs explored.
Ralph is a main protagonist in the story. He is elected leader and tries to create a civilisation on the island while they wait to be rescued. He represents civilisation, order and leadership. Jack is the considered the opposite to Ralph, Jack mostly symbolises savagery and the desire of power. He is more dictator like unlike Ralph who is more democratic. Simon can represent goodness and is very neutral. The society that the boys create can resemble a political state. The littluns and the rest of the boys will be considered the public, media or the common
Ralph, the chief that’s desperate to get rescued, represents civilization as a whole due to his attempts to imitate it. Jack, the leader of the savages, represents savagery because he has no care for rules and goes to terrible lengths to be in power and survive. Piggy, Ralph’s friend and advisor, represents intelligence or progress due to him being able to think of good ideas and guide the group. His death meant that progress for the group came to an end. Roger, one of Jack’s savages, represents pure evil because of his passion for hurting others, especially the littluns, and desire to behead Ralph. Simon, one of Jack’s choir boys, represents pure good due to him supporting his friends not following Jack and the other choir boys into savagery. His death meant the end of good among the savages. Simon is one of the oldest boys. He is a very helpful and quiet but is accepted by the other boys. Simon is very thoughtful and is shown throughout the book being a character who is often alone but seems to enjoy although we get no definite quote that says so. The reader can assume that Simon is a introvert character that does what is asked of him. Simon could be compared to a “wallflower” because he is on the outside looking in though it is his choice to do so. Jack and Ralph are both leaders though they are different in many ways. Jack could be compared to an athlete. In the story, he relies on his hunting abilities or brauns for popularity. Ralph is much more thoughtful and with the help of piggy, he makes well thought out decisions to help the society. Ralph relies on his responsibility and brains for popularity among the group. Ralph could be compared to a business ceo while Jack is more comparable to a sports team captain. Piggy is the outcast throughout the story. He is set apart from the rest because he is fat, he has asthma, can not grow out his hair, and many other reasons. Piggy is essentially different and the boys do not accept him as part of the society and constantly tease him. Piggy is very intellectual and is a voice of reason for Ralph.
