Wedding Speech Delivered by the Groom
I’d like to start by thanking Alan for his kind words and also to thank him on behalf of everyone for footing the bill for today’s festivities………
Having had a wonderful spread and knowing what we have to look forward to tonight, I now understand why he had the heating turned off all last winter!
I was going to begin with ladies and gentlemen
but on looking around I'm glad I didn't. So here goes.
Distinguished guests, those of lesser distinction, and those of no distinction at all……
Family, relatives, (new and old), in-laws and outlaws, friends, friends of friends, and freeloaders
Welcome to our wedding reception.
I would particularly like to extend a warm welcome to all our guests from Mississippi and Kentucky……
Welcome to the wonderful state of California, and for those of you who want to put your watches forward, it’s now 2005…..!!
I’ll never forget the first time Peggy took me to meet her parents. There was me trembling at the knees and there was Alan sitting in his white satin robe and fluffy slippers……
I thought, “I need to break the ice here”, so I asked him what football team he supports. Of course he replied State University, so I said “it must be exciting when you win a match.
“ Don’t Know” he said, I’ve only supported them for 40 years”……
Seriously though…..
The bible tells us, ‘Who so-ever finds a wife, finds a good thing’.

...ure life together. These are taken from the book “The differences between man and wife”:
Learn to work the toilet seat. If it's up, put it down. We need it up - you need it down. You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down.
We don't remember dates. Mark birthdays and anniversaries on a calendar and remind us frequently beforehand
BEER is as exciting for us as handbags are for you
ALL men see in only 6 colours. Peach, for example, is a fruit, not a colour.
Lastly and most importantly……..
Christopher Columbus didn’t need directions, and neither do we.
And with that I'd ask you to charge your glasses and be upstanding for a toast to the bridesmaids.
I give you the bridesmaids
Human beings are not isolated individuals. We do not wander through a landscape of trees and dunes alone, reveling in our own thoughts. Rather, we need relationships with other human beings to give us a sense of support and guidance. We are social beings, who need talk and company almost as much as we need food and sleep. We need others so much, that we have developed a custom that will insure company: marriage. Marriage assures each of us of company and association, even if it is not always positive and helpful. Unfortunately, the great majority of marriages are not paragons of support. Instead, they hold danger and barbs for both members. Only the best marriages improve both partners. So when we look at all three of Janie’s marriages, only her marriage to Teacake shows the support, guidance, and love.
The Mexican drug cartels not only smuggle drugs to the U.S., but also distribute their narcotic drugs. They also finance terrorist organizations, assassinate their rivals, families, and anyone that comes in their way. They are a violent and cruel criminal organization. The Mexican drug cartels are not the ones anyone would want to meet.
Marriage will bring to you main things—loyalty, self restraint, obedience, a sense of fair play, and a whole host of other virutes that you wouldn't need had you remained single. Put the seat down after you. And remember
Mexico is a country rich in tradition, history and culture. Unfortunately, Mexico has not been talked about for any of those descriptions I mentioned above lately. Mexico has become a country full of death and violence. The Mexican government has been fighting a war with drug traffickers since December 2006. At the same time, drug cartels have fought each other for control of territory. More than 60,000 people have been killed (CNN). Despite the “war” launched at these multi-billion dollar organized crime groups, Mexico has not been able to stop its slide as a failed state. Almost every day there seems to be either dead bodies lying on the ground, a school closed due to vandalism, disappeared people, or bullet-riddled houses and cars. Sadly, there is not much the citizens of Mexico can do to ask for justice and change to the mess they are living in right now. So who is to blame for all of this? The Mexican drug cartels have completely taken over Mexico. They have become powerful through corruption and violence. The cartels use their power to intimidate and even murder anyone who tries to get in their way. They do not have a problem with decapitating heads in order to make a statement. The drug cartels also use their money to gain power. Given the amount of money they have, the cartels have millions of dollars invested in keeping authorities off their business. They can be very effective in bribing government officials at all levels, from border patrol just patrolling the border to state and high ranking federal officials. Given the resources they have, they can reach out and kill government officials at all levels. Since government officials are faced with bribes and or certain death, even the most unbreakable are caut...
Over the last several decades, violence has consumed and transformed Mexico. Since the rise of dozens of Mexican cartels, the Mexican government has constantly been fighting an ongoing war with these criminal organizations. The cartel organizations have a primary purpose of managing and controlling illegal drug trafficking operations in Central America and South America to the United States. Violence on a massive and brutal scale has emerged due to the nature of the illegal drug trade. Because the drug trade is vastly widespread, cartels are often fighting one another and competing in business. Mexican authorities count at least 12 major cartels, but also talk of an untold numbers of smaller splinter groups. (Taipei Times). Five cartels from Mexico have risen to become the extremely powerful amongst all the drug organizations operating in Mexico. The Guadalajara Cartel, the Sinaloa Cartel, the Tijuana Cartel, the Juarez Cartel, and the Gulf Cartel. These organizations, along with other distinguished Mexican cartels, have plagued Mexico with violence, terror, and fear due to the essence and nature of illegal drug trafficking.
Warfare was in a state of transition. Older commanders and generals in the French and British militaries were very cavalry and infantry focused. These commanders believed that cavalry, infantry, and artillery would assure victory in any circumstance, against any foe. They clung to the static tactics of the bygone World War I era. World War I had been fought primarily on French soil, and the military as well as the government never wanted that to happen again, therefore they wanted to reinforce their main border against any future German. Little did they know that only twenty two years later they would be bested by German forces in a way that would shock the world. This research will be analyzing many important assumptions, oversights,...
“Mexicans smugglers have long trafficked homegrown heroin and marijuana to the U.S. But in the 1980’s, mexico also became the primary route for colombian cocaine bound for the U.S” (Bates). According to Bates, when Guadalajara’s leader was arrested in 1989, the groups remaining capos, including a young Guzman divided up its trafficking routes, creating the Sinaloa, Juarez, and Tijuana Cartels.
For those of you who don't know me.....I'm Misty.....Martha's friend of 17 years and her maid of honor. Martha, I just want you to know how honored I am to stand by your side on this special day. And can I just say how beautiful and happy you look right now? Gosh you would think it was your wedding day or something!
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. It’s surprising just how far some people are prepared to travel for a free lunch. It’s a good job the groom didn't choose the menu, otherwise we would have had penut-butter sandwiches washed down with beer.
In the Ted talk called, The Deadly Genius of Drug Cartels, with the speaker Rodrigo Canales, he talks about the following; the violence of the drug cartels, the financial businesses of the drug cartels, and how they're successful with the U.S is involved. First, in the Ted Talk, Rodrigo Canales speaks about the violence of Mexico from the past six years which is caused by the drug dealers. The violence is caused by the drug dealers because it's key to them to have good brand management and having a strong group organization, therefore causing them to be violent. Also, the amount of violence in Mexico was caused by the drug dealers causing 100,000 innocent casualties, which is more deaths than the Iraq war. Next, in this Ted Talk, the speaker Rodrigo Canales explains the financial businesses of the drug cartels and how they're successful and how the U.S is involved with the drug cartels to make the cartels financially stable.
However, before I begin, on behalf of John and Angie I would like to thank everyone who has helped to make this the special day that it is - and I think we can all agree it has been splendid so far.
Ladies and Gentlemen – I’ll start by thanking Brian on behalf of the bridesmaids for his kind words.
The debate on whether to get married or stay single has been raging for a long while, with both sides of the coin having their own pros and cons regarding the matter. Many proponents of either marriage or single life have strong individual convictions, and it is difficult to reach a definitive objective conclusion. Is the married individual happier than his/her single counterpart, or is getting married just a comfort seeking ritual that people believe they have to fulfill at some point in their lives? It is necessary to dissect this issue in the light of four factors: health and other medical factors, the economic and finance front, mental and emotional wellbeing and lastly, the social factor.
Let me first say that the bridesmaids look absolutely smashing today, and only rightly outshone by our bride, Pamela. And, I'm sure you'll agree with me gentlemen, today is a sad day for single men, as another beauty leaves the available list. And ladies, I'm sure you'll agree that today's passing by without much of a ripple.
In fact, beside freedom, single people also feel lonely and detached. According to psychological terms, they are lacking of belonging need which is the basic self-actualization of human beings. In contrast, love and companionship in marriage will fulfill belonging need. They will complete people life and also revitalize them after experiencing failure. My closest friend once told me that even though she earlier succeeds in her career than any other peers, she always feels empty, incomplete, and struggled in her own way. Because her career is now stable, I suggested that she should take care of herself more and find someone to whom she can share her success. Now she has two lovely kids and seems to be satisfied with her life. Personally, I used to dream of a happy marriage with someone I love in the rest of my life. However, after several separations, I begin to accept the single life and the lonely. Being single can heal my past disconsolation and keep me moving on. I can also readjust my injured emotion when I am alone. Therefore, I am able to reform myself a stronger and more independent person. Our emotion is significantly different when we are single and married. However, single life or married life is not as important as being fulfilled and happy with the life we choose to
