The Big Match - Personal Narrative The crowd erupted as the 22 players emerged from the tunnel; each one gunning for victory like the crowd and each player was greeted with an encouraging cheer. Then whilst the players shook hands with the other team, regarded as the enemy, I was left to fantasise about the course of events that might occur over the next 90 minutes of thrilling action. This was the final, placing Champions Of England, Manchester United against the Champions Of Germany, Bayern Munich. War was about to commence . . .. This was the day I had been anticipating since United had qualified for the final and my Dad immediately booked flights, tickets and hotel accommodation so we could see United. Finally it had arrived, Wednesday 26th Of May. The Nou Camp in Barcelona was the spectacular host of the final and was packed with 91,000 people, all of whom shared the belief that their team was going to win and claim the title " Champions Of Europe". Many fans were here 31 years ago in 1968, when Sir Matt Busby guided United to the title. Could it happen again? Kick Off, and every fan was full of hope and optimism. It was a warm night in Barcelona, which was no surprise and every fan was proudly dressed in their teams kit, Red for united, or Grey for Bayern, which made the stadium look like vast patches of grey and red, shimmering in the light. "Were going to win", I shouted to my dad, so he could hear me over the roar of the crowd. "I can sense it". Everyone was full of confidence, especially us United fans, since only 3 days ago we had won the F.A. Cup and the League, and every Manchester Fan was hoping that we... ... middle of paper ... ...ls of anguish from the Bayern concrete wall, which I'm glad to say, was shimmering more than ever. It was the most melodramatic victory in European football's history and to cap it all, United had won the treble on what would have been Sir Matt Busby's 90th Birthday The experience of having a sudden change from extreme depressive, to ultimate happiness has made me a generally much more optimistic person and has given me more believe into the statement "Anything is possible". It has also made me a much more determined person as I have seen the rewards that the United teams' determination brought them (and me) and also the punishment of a lack of determination to Bayern Munich. It has also made me a more faithful person and I tend to stand by things that I believe in now, when previously I probably would have given up.
I’ve recently become a huge fan of pro wrestling, if only ironically. The melodramatic promos, the ridiculous moves, the muscular men few Divas that don’t make my penis retract into my body. They’re all reasons why I love pro wrestling… at least, I did for a while…
Red was down, and they didn’t have anything in the seventh. They went down one, two, three. Our team all ran to the pitcher’s mound and celebrated. It was the best feeling I had ever experienced from baseball. The energy was awesome after the comeback win, and you could tell that red didn’t know what happened. They had us down and out in the second to last inning, but they couldn’t hold on. As they announced our names to get the trophies, we could hardly stand still. As I waited, I was thinking, I will never forget how it felt to win my first championship.
Winning states in wrestling is one of the best moments in my life. It was at this time in Flint Michigan at IMA arena the last match of the year was finally here. I locked eyes with my opponents, walked onto the mat, put on my ankle band on, and put my foot on the tape ready to start. We shook hands. The whistle blew, I locked arms with him and it began. Our arms were locked tight, so tight I could barely move. For a second I thought he might win. But then we broke up, and I tried to take a shot he blocked it, and our arms were locked up again. The whistle blew and the first period was over, and it was tied zero to zero.
...e bus and off we went. As soon as we arrived we were told that the kick off would be in ten minutes. After a quick warm up we were ready. My hands were shaking, heart pounding but I couldn’t wait to start. When the game started my nerves escaped from my head and I was focused on the match.
The rivalry game has a special place in each of our lives because we have not earned the lunch pail all season, and we are starving for our lunch, making anaerobic practices seem worth the hard work. A coal miner woke up to the frigid temperature of Pennsylvania winter, he had a runny nose filled with moist residue, and a large contusion on his upper right thigh from the previous day's work. He drowned the soot out of his rustic lunch pail, in a sink with only cold water, activating the miner’s taste buds and salivating in anticipation. The miner placed his hearty lunch delicately into the sturdy pieces of sheet metal, knowing his reward was protected by countless hours of sacrifice. He strapped on his winter damaged, smudge covered, boots, grabbed his lunch pail, and carried out the promise he made to himself and his family, he will never forget his pail. Three years ago, my mind and vision dazed with yellow and black spots signaling
Throughout the emergence of the Vietnam war {and military draft}, many innocent people were inducted and taken from their homes to fight in alien territory. A few significant individuals, however, managed to take a stand and refuse the government’s orders. Two texts that exhibit this difficult time are Muhammad Ali’s “The Greatest: My Own Story” and an interview of John Strickland. Both Ali and Strickland experience criticism and reveal a determined state of mind as they oppose the war and induction. Each man faces the same conflict, and their perspectives prove to be similar.
It was one day this year and I was playing soccer with my friends and there was a professional coach was watching us play. Then after we got done we were all leaving and I was like the last one to leave and the coach went up to me and gave a contract saying they want me to join professional soccer and join a professional team and I said sure so he gave me a contract and told me to sign it and so I did.
To many, the idea of riding for the brand is just a cowboy thing with no meaning. However, personally I encourage myself to think a little deeper. To ride for the brand means that with hard work, respect, and trust in yourself and in others, you can persevere. When in look back today I realize that without even knowing it, I ride for the brand. But not until just years ago did I learn it to an extreme level. The sport of wrestling is one of the most demanding sports, physically as well as mentally. And in my case I have learned more about myself wrestling than in any other activity.
Before the soccer game had started both teams were preparing for a fierce battle. As I looked around, I could see the fear on my teammate faces. Some looked nervous while others were laughing and joking around. Seeing the size of the opposing team made me a little nervous too. My coach had the most confident look on his face as the players took the field.
Hi, I am Ryan. I am 12 years old, the oldest child in my family. I live on the east coast in Chatham, NJ. I’ve never been to the west coast, but my family and I planned this amazing road trip through Big Sur, California, and I am very excited! I love nature, and from what I’ve heard from friends, Big Sur tops the list when it comes to the scenery and natural beauty. There is almost no technology distraction because Big Sur is in the middle of nowhere. I look forward to disconnecting from technology, and spending quality time with my family. One downside is that I am afraid of heights, so I am not entirely sure how driving next to a cliff for hours is actually gonna go. Looking forward to the best driving experience of my life. I just hope I won’t get motion sickness.
“Bye” I told my dad and brother. “Where are you going?” my dad asked me. “I have wrestling today, dad” I answered. “Alright, go ahead”. There was no school today (Friday) so we had wrestling practice at nine in the morning.
The person I respect is my coach, Lee. Around November last year I met coach. It was during, my game, against his team, I had just stole the ball, when Lee walked to my mom, and talked to her. After the game he introduced himself and we talked. Once we got in the car my mom told me Lee said he wants me to come to a practice of his, and check it out. Sadly it took me several months to come see what his practices were like. I’m thankful I did because he’s the best coach I’ve ever had and I like his qualities, even though he’s very strict.
tonight after school we have our final soccer game of the season our coach mr jones stated i want all of you to play your best and play fair the game started we knew if we didn’t play aggressively we would lose at half time our opponents were ahead by two shortly after we managed to tie the game we had very little time left and knew we had to play well the audience was cheering loudly they could feel the tension in the air. dean our captain called a time out we gathered around and our coach said you can do it play smart we didn’t want to let our coach or fans down just then dean kicked the ball the crowd went wild the ball went right through the net then the buzzer went to signal the end of the game much to our surprise
Friday Night Lights was my favorite part about fall. I loved the game, cheering on my team, student section themes, the bright lights, the atmosphere, and everyone in town coming to the game. I just love it all. Today was my school's’ rivalry game against the Airline Vikings. The stadium was so packed when I got there. I immediately walk down to the Parkway Panthers student section with my friend, AnnaGrace Johnson.
How could I? We were in year 6 at the top of the schools hierarchy and
