How has taking InTech changed the way I teach? Well, I took it six years ago, so I had to think about this for a while. I guess the fact that I had to consider it for a bit says something about how much a part of my life and my teaching technology has become. At the time I took InTech I, I felt that I was already quite comfortable using technology in the classroom. I had a desire and an interest in using it more, what I needed were ideas. I wasn’t sure how to get twenty-eight students on two computers. I also wasn’t sure what type of programs to use and how to make the assignments creative and interesting. I had more to learn than I thought at first.
The first thing that I learned was that there was a difference in my using technology to teach, and the students using it to learn. I was using technology to prepare lessons, communicate with parents, and disseminate information to

I happen to think that Power Point is used too often. Also, the kids are no longer enthralled with it. However, last year that all changed for me because I got a set of interactive student responders. No, the responders didn’t have anything to do with InTech, but the tricks that I learned at InTech have helped me to make presentations that are clever, intriguing, and unique. Combine all that with the add-on of the ‘clickers,’ and I have some very attentive children. One of the reasons that I have been having so much fun with the interactives is because I have learned to use Power Point to its fullest potential. I can thank InTech for that. This year, I intend to have my students create some interactive power point presentations for me. I also want them to use Movie Maker and Timeline to create projects for class. I haven’t decided exactly what the criteria will be, but we are studying Pakistan and reading Three Cups of Tea. It seems like a great time to have them create a lesson of their own to share with their
I believe there are things that need to be change for better comprehension from all of the students. Integrating technology to the lesson and activities really do make a difference and I saw that during the motivational activity. If I had integrated a fun online game or more interactive lesson all of the children would have benefit much more than they did during my lesson. Despite that, the students learned and enjoyed the lesson and activities and that is all that matters at the end of the day. New changes and ideas will come for future lessons and I just have to remind myself that this a learning process for myself and my
Working as an Instructional Technology Specialist for the past seven years has provided many opportunities to observe teachers and students in a classroom setting. During this time teachers have been in the process of phasing in a new standards-based curriculum with an emphasis on student mastery of these standards. New technology tools have also been incorporated in many classrooms including studen...
In the ensuing paragraphs, I am going to attempt to describe how my IDP experience has influenced me as a community college instructor; how my teaching skills have been sharpened, and how my methods have changed as a result of my IDP learning. I’d like to accomplish this by switching lenses. Instead of the panoramic view, looking at the entire IDP program, I’d like to tighten my focus down to the three courses I feel have had the greatest impact on me as an instructor: Planning For Instruction, Assessing and Evaluating Learning, and Teaching With Technology.
This I find to be a great accomplishment, because the out of class work load has been insane! Two or three hours everyday was dedicated to homework just for this class alone. I 'm still not quite sure how I managed, but the ride is almost complete. I also think I have done well with note taking. My notes have become more organized and structured so that when I look back on them I am able to easy recall what was said or understand what I was thinking during the time. I have also learned how to write decent essays within a short period of time. My essays are typically of average quality compared to the people in this class, however, compared to the average person outside of this room, my essays are fairly good. Besides these technical improvements, this class has helped me in my personal life. It has brought questions into my life about whom I am as a person, society, government, religion, spirituality, and so much more. From this class it is certain that I have learned a lot, but I have learned one of the greatest lessons in life, how to
Technology enables students and teachers to have a fast and easy way to acquire unlimited access to tons of information. With all of the useful technologies, the curriculum is bound to change in endless ways, creating more opportunity for learning.
The Lesson- I will be teaching point of view and perspective. Through this lesson students will be expected to identify the point of view of stories based on clue pronouns. We started this lesson by taking notes on four different point of views and the clue pronouns associated with each point of view. Then we discussed stories we have read and their point of view. Finally we ended the lesson with a writing assignment where each student had a picture and they had to write a story about the picture in first person, second person, and third person limited and omniscient. The following day the first assessment was given. The next week we reviewed the lesson adding the J factor to it. I created a prezi reviewing our notes taken the week before, this included a fun point of view song by flocabulary. Then we played a mingling game. Each student has a card with a passage from well-known novel, poem, or story. Their job was to mingle around the classroom and when the singing stop the first person they saw was their partner. They were expected to read their card to the
I liked how the teacher let us pick a topic that we like instead of the teacher choosing the topic for us.I have seen myself using much more tools on editing and making new projects.I have told myself that I will never get through this and it isn't possible to finish.I have been shown that you can accomplish anything and that you just have to think about what I am going to do.I told the teacher I didn't know what to do,so I created a website and started to work on it.Then I started to post facts and soccer videos and I told myself that I was only go ...
Teachers should be aware of how much work goes into integrating technology. It must meet a long list of criteria and be intentional in its presentation to students. If technology was not working as an effective teaching tool then why would it be used? However, that is not the case because it works and it does make a difference. So current and future teachers, please understand that integrating technology is a lot of work, but the outcomes are positive and effective. Educational Technology is on the rise, and will continue to be a positive teaching tool and will continue to make advances in the current and near

In less than a decade, computer use progressed from programming classes for a few of the better students, to literacy classes for all students, to the integration of computers and technology into the curriculum. Now, there is a goal for educators to use technology as a tool in efforts to teach more effectively by using a variety of strategies to meet different needs in a diverse classroom. This will take training and commitment to keep up in an area that changes quickly, but the benefits to teachers and students are greater that the effort it will take to stay informed; computers increase productivity of students and make learning a fun experience. They help students become better problem-solvers instead of just rote learners.
During my time at this field placement, I noticed how Mrs. Anderson uses technology on a daily basis and wanted to give it a try myself. Students seem to enjoy it very much and from what I have seen, Mrs. Anderson gets a great response from the students as far as scores go. Technology in the classroom can be used for different types of assessments as well whether it be for a presentation, test or online activity. As a 21st century pre-service teacher, it is very important for me to know how to properly use technology in the classroom and how to successfully incorporate it into my curriculum. “Teachers must learn to use technology and must allow it to change their present teaching paradigm. This is not an easy task because change can seem intimidating and threatening” (Bitner, 1). This quote sums up exactly what I should be working on in terms of incorporating technology into the classroom. If I begin to use it now then I will be less intimidated in the
Technology has had a huge impact on education. It continues to shape the way we learn and what we learn today and in the future. As technology advances, so does the quality of education and that is nothing but good news for the students of today and of the future.
Technology properly used in the classroom has many advantages to a student’s learning. Technology can help students become more involved in their own learning process, which is not seen in the traditional classroom. It allows them to master basic skills at their own rate rather than being left behind. Teachers and students alike can connect to real life situations by using technology in the classroom; this can also help to prepare students for real world situations. Technology can be used to motivate students as well as to offer more challenging opportunities. It can also be used as a visualization tool to keep students interested in the subject that is being taught. When technology is used effectively, students have the opportunity to develop skills that they may not get without the use of technology (Cleaver, 2011). Assessing and monitoring students is easier on the teacher because of the ability to use technology in the classroom. When technology is used correctly it offers limitless resources to a classroom atmosphere.
Computer technology is one the most innovative advancements in modern-day education. Technology has made its way into the world of teaching practice and principle by expanding the way we approach instruction in the classroom. We are no longer confined to pencil and paper, but have the ability to project and present knowledge in an enhanced way to capture the minds of a generation of students whose society is built around ever expanding world of computer technology.
I used to question the integration of computers in the preschool classrooms. After completing this course, I have learned so much about the benefits of integrating technology as a teaching tool. I am confident to teach technology skills, and to use technology as a tool to help my students become cyber safe and technology skilled. I believe learning technology should be fun, and at the same time rewarding. Because through this course have learned, that there is more about teaching basic technology skills. I have learned that technology can be the best teaching tool.
