Online Learning and Adult Learner Adults are taking a more preferred method of education by taking online classes versus face-to-face traditional classes, which to most is a more affordable means. The balance of family and work is a very important factor when adding college courses to your daily routine. Many challenges stand before the adult learner such as time management, finding correct school, reliable computer and internet, and budget to take classes. What about the instructors are the trained? Many parents feel that fear of going back to school but it’s exciting at the same time. Many will be attending classes while their children are living that same journey to higher education. In today’s society in order to get a good paying job or even sustain your current job education is extremely important. Nothing in life is easy but the experience of online education allows the opportunity for many to reach that goal of a college degree. Military co-workers serving in the Army were interviewed who are taking online classes. Education helped them personally and professionally with their career. Sergeant Major (SGM) Lambert was interviewed; he has served over thirty one years of active service the United States Army. Also, he has been the Senior Enlisted Advisor of the 82nd Airborne Division, one of the most decorated Army units in military history. When interviewed (Lambert, 2014) states “if you don’t take advantage of online courses you will fall behind in getting promoted and becoming a better soldier and overall person”. SGM Lambert preaches “if you want it you have to go get it and online classes made it possible to achieve that goal especially with free tuition assistance” (Lambert, 2014).
