This essay is about the observation and analysis of the technique/composition of the performance of the performers on the video provided which is, a netball shooting video. Just for a beginning, in netball today, two basic shots are used which are, Australian high release and Caribbean shot. Netball has a unique style: the ball is released high and is usually released while shooter is stationary.
Accuracy, composure, toughness, precise technical work and released game pressure situations are the key ingredients to consistent, high percentage shooting. If any of these elements are missing, the shooter is likely to go missing when the pressure is really on. The main problems that should be improved are concentration, body-balanced and applying correct technique of shooting. This is very important to the shooters who are doing a step before shooting since none of the shots with a step before it were successful. But, all of the ways that is going to be explained can be used to improve all the weaknesses discussed above.
Nicole Cusack stated that hours of practice and dedication has seen her reach her goal to be an Australian goal shooter. She added that the GS and GA must be able to work well together. Finding space in goal circle can be difficult at times, so it is important to talk to each other to keep the shooting circle balanced at all times. Once the shooters have mastered the technique through practice, then, they can practice on other skills. It is very important to keep our body balance first before shooting. The drill to improve this is; two on two drill. The two goal shooters stand inside the circle, and two defenders stand next to them. The feeder is outside the circle with ball. The feeder calls “GO” and passes to one of the shooters. The shooters must take three safe passes to each other before taking a shot for goal. Defender must use the recovery step to gain legal distance and then raise their arms to pressure the shot. Technically, this drill will attain the ability to see player and the ball, balance before shooting and cope with defenders’ pressure.
