System Overview
The Lake County Library System consists of an administrative office located in Tavares, nine member libraries, and six branch libraries. Member libraries include: Fruitland Park Library; Helen Lehmann Memorial Library in Montverde; Lady Lake Public Library; Leesburg Public Library; Marianne Beck Memorial Library in Howey-in-the-Hills; Minneola Schoolhouse Library; City of Tavares Public Library; Umatilla Public Library; and the W.T. Bland Public Library in Mount Dora. Branch libraries include: Astor County Library; Cagan Crossings Community Library in the Four Corners area; Cooper Memorial Library in Clermont; East Lake County Library in Sorrento; Marion Baysinger Memorial County Library in Groveland; and the Paisley County Library.
The Lake County Board of County Commissioners governs the library system. The Cooperative operates through inter-local agreements between the governing bodies of its member and branch libraries. The system has reciprocal borrowing agreements with Marion, Orange, Osceola, Polk, and Volusia Counties that allow Lake County patrons to borrow library materials from those libraries. The library system has an Internet use policy, which is currently being revised to include wireless access.
The Lake County Public Library website is available at http://www.mylakelibrary.org/. The site allows the public to search the library catalog and databases, to log into their accounts, to reserve materials, and provides information regarding library hours, library news, information and much more. The library collection includes print materials, audio and video materials, software, audiovisual equipment and a variety of other resources.

The Cagan Crossings Community Library has a 10 Mbps connection that was upgraded from 5 Mbps in July 2010. Service that was reported as slow on the pre-assessment is greatly improved since the upgrade. The library has 20 staff workstations in addition to the 36 public workstations on its network. Although the speed may be improved, the Hayes’ team calculates that 15 to 25 Mbps is recommended to provide adequate access and speed for the library computers and any guest users. Of the 36 patron workstations: 24 are between one and three years old, five between four and five years old, and the remaining seven older than five years old. As computers age they should be updated or replaced. A refresh schedule for computers should be followed.
The King County Library System is the fifth largest library system in circulation in the United States. The current director of the KCLS, Bill Ptacek, started with the organization three years ago and is in the process of working towards a new strategic plan titled "The Year 2000 Plan, which has a long-term goal of integrating all the resources of the library system equally and to coordinate all the efforts to ensure it was providing the best possible service to the community. In the three years, Ptacek worked to expand the mission to cover services for the community to include children, life-long learning, career development, and literacy (Chell, 1996, pg.2). The reworking of the mission and services of KCLS was in full swing, but there were

The city itself is on the edge of Pennyroyal Plateau, while the Bluegrass region lies to the north and the Eastern Kentucky Coalfield is to the east. This library system is utilizing all the technologies and materials available to them to serve the community in the best way. Despite certain social indicators and demographic statistics indicating that the library should not be overly utilized, it is thriving and is heavily in use. There are areas that the library can look to improve based on statistical evidence, such as reaching out to the low income population and the over 55 years age group. This library seems to be meeting numerous needs for a wide range of patrons, and doing it well.
I had the opportunity to interview Jennifer Ashby. She has been the director of the Asotin County Library since February of 2001. She oversees just about everything that goes on in the library. She is in charge of budgets, facilities, personnel, collections, technology, programs, services, and public relations. She gave me a lot of great information on the history and current events of the library.
The name of the building I choose is the Downtown Public Library, which address is 330 Park Blvd and it has a size of 366,673 square feet. The construction began in August of 2010 and the architect that was in charge of it was Rob Wellington Quigley of the FAIA Tucker Sadler & Associates. The main materials used when building it was concrete and all of the columns where supported with steel rebar, which is a piece of metal used to reinforce concrete. The dome was made out of eight steel ribs and eight steel-mesh sail as stated in the “Construction facts of the San Diego Central Library“. The main function of this building as its name says, is to serve as a library not only for the Downtown part of San Diego but for the whole city.
The Human Library is an event sponsored by Lone Star college that brings in people who have lived unique lives and been in involved in different things. There were many different individuals from different fields who were available to be interviewed, but I was mainly interested in the military veterans. There were veterans from World War II, the Korean War, and the War in Iraq. I chose to interview Specialist Kyle Smith who was a pilot first class in Iraq. Kyle was one of the youngest people there and was very interesting to talk to. He mainly walked the group through the training procedures for the army, which was very fun to listen to.
Expansion of the school, changes in institutional policy, and excellence in athletics and academics from the hard work of several notable individuals helped to form the rich history and tradition ingrained into UNC. However, the opening of the Davis Library is the main event because The Walter Royal Davis Library is the central library for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, it is the primary resource for all students, and was completed after a lengthy transition in February of 1984 (Bradsher, 1983, 3). The changes that came along with this move, brought upon difficulties for the university employees, the students and faculty requiring library resources, and student relations, specifically between undergraduate and graduate students.

On 13rd of October, at 3:57p.m., I found a seat next to the ceiling window on the ground floor in the San Diego Public Library and started my observation. The whole floor is surrounded by the ceiling windows which allow the allow luminance of sunlight to shine deeply into the library. My location was facing both the children’s library and the area which serves a branch of CD and DVDs. On that day, the library was also holding a mini exhibition names as the “Guardian Spirit Sacred Sculpture from the Continent of African”. Even though there are three wooden bookshelfs displayed orderly between my location and the children library, I can still clearly observe my target who is located in the children library.
Constructed between 1888 and 1897, the Library of Congress is located in Washington, D.C. at the intersection of 1st St. and Independance Avenue. It's beautiful, large-scale building is comprised mainly of marble, granite, iron, and bronze. The Library's architectural style is reminiscent of that of ancient Greece. It's typical Greek characteristics include columns of the Ionic order, relief sculpture, and statues of Greek god figures, such as Poseidon, god of the sea. These attributes are significantly comparable to those of the altar of Pergamon located in present day Turkey. Housing thousands of books, music, and art collections, the Library of Congress contains numerous reading rooms used by the public people. It is not restricted to use by special officials, but welcomes everybody as it was constructed specifically to serve as the American national library.
