Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte

Jane Eyre is a very strong character, true feminist whose behaviour and believes are only based on social, political, and economic equality of the sexes. She advocates equal rights for herself, therefore suffered a lot of hardships in her life. She contains a very strong feminist stance; and explores the dept at which she may act in the society to figure out her boundaries in a Victorian society. She embodies passion and does what is right for her. She is a very independent woman who is educated when women are under the authority of men. She believes that women are no different from men and believes that marriage is based on love not compromising, which is rarely true in the Victorian society. She has unique qualities and all these qualities make her a very strong person. Therefore, Jane Eyre is epidme of femininity due to the way she handles her relationship with men, believes in equality, and is a very strong independent woman.

Firstly, Jane Eyre is a very true feminist because of the way she deals with her relationship with men is incredible. She is a type of character who speaks her mind and doesn’t believe in gender differences. Jane Eyre experiences a lot of suppression in her life by men, but she always stood up against her rights. She raises her voice against cruelty and therefore when she gets into a huge argument with her cousin, John Reed. She speaks for her rights and doesn’t care if he is a male. “You are like a murderer. You’re like a slave-driver. You are like a Roman.” (pg 10) When John Reed was trying to insult Jane and asked her to call him Sir, she was overwhelmed. ..., Jane Eyre is a feminist character as a result of the way she deals with her relationship with men, believed in equality, and was a strong woman. She refused to marry Mr. Rochester because she thought that it is against her morals to marry someone who is socially not equal . Hence, she didn’t want to become Mr. Rochester’s property and she leaves him. Jane Eyre believed that the ability to feel love is what defines us human being. Therefore, she refused to marry St. John because she thought that she should marry someone who she feels in love with. She denied to marry Rochester and St. John because she was not comfortable being in a relationship with these men. Moreover, she believes that relationships should never be based on convenience, status or stability. Lastly, she was a strong woman who believed in expressing her feeling, either if it’s a male or female.
