It's Time to Abolish Religion

Can a society exist emancipated from religion? Will its foundations decay due to the absence of it, or will it flourish and achieve a new stratum of knowledge which will result in a peaceful co-existence? The word “religion” has its roots in the Latin word “religare” which means to bind together, or to connect; on the contrary I argue religion has been an apparatus of division, rather than achieving collectivism, thus doing much more harm than good. History represents the bloody warfare instigated and propagated in the name of religion; it is the antithesis of peace and unity. Religion has imposed limitations upon development of knowledge; therefore hampering the growth of human faculties, and narrowing the realm of free thinking men. Time and time again religion has proved to be the ultimate source of conflict within society; it sets up one individual against another, one community against another and finally one country against another, hence leading to only one outcome, destruction.

Human beings never introduce themselves as citizens of the world; instead they attribute a social, cultural or a religious emblem to themselves. Religion, being the predominant associative insignia manages to create a deeply rooted division within our minds; furthermore this rift over a prolonged period of time becomes innate and has profound effects on a sub-consciousness level. Blood has been continuously shed in the name of religion from ancient times, be it in the form of crusades carried out by the Christian knights, or the slaughtering of the innocent consummated by the Mohammedan generals, its outcome is always the same, implementation and reinforcement of specific religious doctrines. ...astrophic to the progression of humanity, because religion can never be a source of union, but only division; and a society divided against it-self, can never stand strong. The extremism and fanaticism embedded in religious principles only breeds ignorance, and this very ignorance leads to delusional mindsets which creates chaos and destruction within society. The history exemplifies the horrors of religion, it was an instrument of oppression, persecution and death; we should learn from these valuable lessons and never let history repeat it-self. As humanity progresses eradication of religion is longer an option, but a necessity; it hinders development by continual reinforcement of outdated ancient ideologies, thus it’s an antagonist of change, and only a religion free society can attain peace and unity which are necessary elements in advancing into a modern era.
